The Senior Designer is responsible for leading all design phases for interiors projects, establishes the vision, leads the team, and has extensive client interaction.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Develops overall design for project
• Directs staff to complete design and technical drawing
• Reviews design and technical drawing of other more junior designers
• Review of engineering drawings to ensure they comply with design solution
• Works with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings
• Researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
• Obtain client approval and ensure integration into overall design
• Produces, reviews and finalizes space plans for projects
• Extensive knowledge of detailing and finalizes details on projects
• Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages
• Reviews and produces final cost estimates
• In unusual circumstances may be required to assist with support for field surveys
• Manages overall design budget
• Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budget
• Manages the work of other Designers
• Oversees tasks and provide feedback on work product
• Organizes and conducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirements
• Continues to provide needed information to client on design specifications; good working knowledge of Affinity program tool

Qualifications:
• Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
• 8+ years’ experience in corporate interior design projects

Working Conditions:

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Designer or Draftsperson who is interested in working across America and joining a mission that matters. This role can be based out of our headquarters in Orange County or done remotely with travel.  

Higher Ground Education’s Designer/Draftsperson will be responsible for working with Expansion Team to create new Montessori schools at new and existing sites. Responsibilities will include designing and generating construction documents, collaborating with the team to ensure timely completion of the project and incorporating feedback from licensing and program teams.

• Proficiency in Revit
• An architectural degree from an accredited university (architectural license is not required)

The Civil CAD Designer will be an Autocad Civil 3D expert responsible for producing a complete set of quality construction plans. These construction plans will encompass elements gathered through verbal instructions, rough sketches, civil survey, architectural drawings, and designs provided by the engineer. Construction plans will include site plans, complex grading and drainage plans, roadway alignment, plan and profiles, cross sections, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection systems, storm sewer design, intersection layouts and applicable standard details, etc.

Qualifications/Skills:  

• Possess the ability to work both independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team with advice and support from Project Managers and Engineers. Projects are complex and widely varied, so attention to detail is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years experience with AutoCAD (up to 2 years can be through school)
• Minimum of 6 years experience with Autodesk Civil 3D
• Minimum of 4 years experience in commercial and residential land development
• Familiarity with City of Austin details and design parameters preferred
• Experience creating a complete set of construction plans, including: surfaces and associated profiles as needed sheets for roads, water, wastewater, and storm sewer, as well as plans/cross sections for detention and water quality ponds, and overall site/grading.
  

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Visualize and create the graphic representations of designs for land development related construction plan sets.
• Create drawings, plotting, layer controls, plan sets, CAD files/base files, etc. for a wide variety of challenging projects.
• Recommend design changes to Project Managers and/or Engineers.
