We are looking for an experienced Curtain Wall CAD Designer, knowledge of curtain walling / structural glazing is essential for this role.

The successful Curtain Wall CAD Designer will join our well-established and growing company who specialise in design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of bespoke architectural glazing systems and curtain wall solutions for commercial buildings. Our aim is to ensure that buildings achieve or exceed their design life.

Role Requirements

A methodical approach and attention to detail are essential for this important role in our growing business. Our ideal candidate must be proficient in Autocad & Inventor, additional aptitude in Solid Works and 3D draughting software would be ideal but not essential.  You must have worked in a similar role previously and ideally live locally.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

•You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to programmes and deadlines, be flexible to change and have a keen eye for quality
•You will work closely as part of the team to deliver packages on time.  You will be working on projects up to the value of £5 million and it will be your responsibility to ensure the designs are delivered successfully
•You will be responsible for the preparation of drawings, details, sketches, RFI’s, technical submittals and design related documentation, in many cases making use of client’s online project management portals online
•You will attend sites for surveys and design meetings with architects, clients and suppliers.

You will responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects within the Rail Engineering Sector. Projects will range from a number of smaller projects to large multi-million pound projects. You will be working in multi-disciplinary teams, some of your roles and responsibilities will include:

What you’ll be doing:

• The production of engineering CAD deliverables using various CAD based tools, predominantly Bentley and Autodesk products.
• Can produce with support CAD based deliverables with the correct level of detail for the required stage of design. This could be feasibility through to detailed design.
• Able to competently structure CAD designs.
• Liaise with colleagues, other departments and project teams with respect to drawing requirements
• Provide the Project Engineering Team with CAD & Design support throughout the project.
• Ensure that drawings are prepared, stored, issued and archived in accordance with company procedures
  

What we’re looking for:

• Substantial experience in being a CAD Technician – Rail
• Competent in the use Bentley MicroStation (2D/3D) and ProjectWise
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the team.
• Able to manage your own time to meet project deadlines and budget targets.
• Ability to respond to Project Manager and Client requests and meet challenging deadlines.

This department focuses on the full programme management life cycle of the implementation of our highly automated, multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) - from pre-deal, through to the design, construction, installation, testing and ‘go-live’ phases (with all the process and portfolio management in between). This department is instrumental in ensuring we deliver these CFCs on time, to budget, and to the specific requirements of each client.

Within Platform Implementation sits the CAD Services team. Working closely with multiple departments across the business from Product Development and IT through to external Architects and Structural Engineers, this team create detailed Technical CAD designs and drawings during the design phase of Ocado’s multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) around the world.

What will you be doing?... 

• Producing ‘engineering’ layouts at the detailed design phase
• Where appropriate, providing proposed and/or as-built equipment and infrastructure drawings for inclusion in Vendor designs
• Carrying out surveys of new and legacy installations across the Ocado Property Portfolio
• Applying design knowledge for input into mechanical design
• Integrating externally produced component drawings into the main Ocado Engineering library.
• Producing mechanical ‘sales’ layouts at the concept design phase
• This Role is Head Office Based role, however, you may be asked to carry out occasional site visits

About you... 

• Proficient in Autodesk Revit 3D
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D
• Knowledge other 3D CAD software e.g. Inventor, Solidworks, etc. would also be an advantage
