DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an Architectural Designer/Drafter with strong Revit production abilities to join our in-house architecture team. The ideal candidates will have 2+ years of architectural construction drawing experience & knowledge in all phases of project execution including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Drawings and Construction Administration.

Many of the projects our architecture department undertakes Historic Mill conversions. The preferred candidate will have experience with mixed-use, multi-family, historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and high-rise buildings. Candidates with architecture degree and strong construction drawing background are preferred.

Ability to work in a small architecture environment where being involved in a project from inception through completion is the norm. Ability to work closely with the Lead Architect as well as the Development and Construction Management sides of the firm is important.

Position Summary:

• Program and plan laboratory facilities including:  chemistry, biology, microbiology, diagnostic, physics/engineering, nanoparticle, pharmaceutical, R&D, Engineering labs, and medical labs.  Note: experience is each of these lab types is not mandatory but rather areas in which we work.  
• Provide subject matter expertise and leadership for laboratory facilities in the areas of programming, design, fit-out planning, equipment planning, MEP systems integration planning, casework specification and construction administration.
• Collaborate with team members (architects, engineers, and interior designers) for total project design and integration of laboratory needs
• Lead client/user group discussions through lab planning and design process
• Develop lab drawings and specifications (collaborating with internal specification writer) necessary for project requirements, and remain involved with projects throughout construction through to project completion 

Requirements

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor of Architecture degree from an NCAAB accredited college or university 
• Architectural licensure preferred 
• Minimum of 3 years proven lab programming and/or planning project experience in one or multiple lab types working with higher education / private industry. 
• Proven knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for laboratory design
• Proven knowledge of laboratory programming delivery and how design impacts those systems – including space, operational, and equipment programming, as well as MEP systems and casework
• Knowledge of laboratory planning, design, construction documents, construction administration and project construction cost control for lab facilities
• Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
• Experience working directly with clients; their senior management representatives, scientists, laboratory managers and technicians, facilities and project managers, and other project stakeholders in determining and documenting programmatic requirements
• Must love to be part of working with a team

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be working with and supporting the Mechanical Design Team for several ongoing programs, initiatives, and projects.  Responsibilities include utilizing SolidWorks CAD skills to model complex 3-D geometry in the design of opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical components to support the implementation of new products and product changes targeted to improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs as directed by the Supervisor. Also requires interfacing and communicating with other functional areas of the business as needed such as configuration management and IT. Manages EPDM, libraries, templates, and processes and communicates status to Supervisor and others. Works with Project Teams, offers design solutions and solves problems. The successful candidate is expected to present knowledge of and a solid track record in the following essential areas:

• Perform Duties of CAD Administrator for SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM (EPDM)
• Manage file templates and workflows in SolidWorks and EPDM
• Oversee organization of EPDM Vault including Project folders, COT’s & Material Libraries, Technical Specifications and White Papers
• Suggest and implement initiatives to improve efficiency within the department
• Advanced skills in the use of SolidWorks for design and drafting of complex solid models.
• Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods and conventions in accordance with ASME 14.5-2009
• Generation of required documentation including Detailed Drawings, Design Reports, Assembly Procedures, Bills-of-Material, Test Procedures, ECO’s, etc. Experience with Team Center PLM is a plus.
• Coordinate the use and maintenance of various 3D printers
