Background: IBM’s AI Hardware Center has a need for a capable Project Leader with strong experience in VLSI circuit design and layout.  This Project Leader will drive the design and development of a suite of yield-test vehicles for a complex upcoming testsite, combining front-end VLSI fabrication at an advanced (FinFET) technology node in a commercial foundry with novel back-end processing at an IBM facility.

  5. ·   Job Duty 1 – Consult with stakeholders (testsite architect, circuit designers, yield/test leaders, test personnel, semiconductor processing leaders) to develop a plan for delivering first-time-right yield-test vehicles in time for planned testsite design freeze, and then execute this plan to completion.

    ·   Job Duty 2 – Oversee the design, verification, and documentation efforts for yield-test vehicles, involving multiple design and layout personnel situated across multiple time-zones, including direct participation in circuit design and/or layout activities where necessary and/or appropriate.

    ·   Job Duty 3 – Report progress regularly to testsite architect and to project-leadership team, including timely indication of resource needs and roadblocks, and full design reviews where appropriate.

    ·   Experience in leading teams (at least 4 years) is greatly preferred, including assigning, monitoring, and  (when necessary) re-assigning tasks among a diverse set of team-members, distributed across multiple time-zones.

    ·   Selected candidate will interact extensively with a large project-leadership team distributed across the globe, through weekly updates, formal design reviews at key program milestones, and other briefings. 

    ·   Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate both progress and problems compactly (e.g., capable of either summarizing or presenting in full detail, as needed).  Some local travel, to Albany and Yorktown sites in New York State, could potentially be requested – pending local conditions – but is not mandatory.

The Client is looking for a Sr Integration and Test Systems Engineer for our growing Systems Engineering department, working on next generation aircraft controls for military and commercial aircraft.  We are expanding our staff as we grow our technology, mission areas, and market share.  In this role, you will use your expertise in the integration and test of real time high performance control systems.  This position is located in East Aurora NY.

 

In this role, you will bring your demonstrated experience in solving complex problems in a collaborative team environment, preferably in an aerospace context.  The successful candidate will be interested in big picture thinking and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to resolve technically-challenging problems.

 

As an Integration and Test Systems Engineer, you will…

  • Develop verification plans and verification cross reference matrices (VCRM’s) for high performance real-time control systems.
  • Develop test plans and procedures in support of requirements verification and system qualification.
  • Drive successful real-time system model integration, in order to support a variety of test environments at both system and unit level. 
  • Create test scripts to support automated testing of systems. 
  • Effectively communicate these internal design requirements to the other members of the design/project team
  • Create concise reports that document test results, requirement verification and limitations and constraints.
  • Support the identification and definition of Verification and Validation approaches for the system or subsystem
  • Support system- and subsystem-level integration and test, including any anomaly investigations
  • Operate as a contributing or lead member of in a team of creative, independent individuals
  • Coordinate/facilitate design product discussions across other development teams and client sites
  • Contribute as a key technical member on a team of creative, independent individuals

Minimum Qualifications to be considered… 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Engineering, Math, Science, Technology)
  • 7 years of professional experience in the field of Engineering (5 years with Master’s Degree; 3 years with PhD)
  • Experience with integration and test of real time control systems
  • Proficiency in modeling tools, such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience with real time test environments such as dSPACE and/or National Instruments
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen
  • DoD Secret clearance or the ability to acquire a clearance
