SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The High Speed Trainset Electrical Technician, with knowledge of electrical power, control, onboard passenger comfort systems and onboard safety systems is the troubleshooter and repair person working on Amtrak’s High Speed Trainsets. This individual is responsible for performing repair, maintenance, serving and inspection activities in accordance with HST Maintenance practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The High Speed Trainset Electrical Technician must possess the skills to perform the required inspections, troubleshoot all systems, monitoring systems and determine required corrective action. They must also be capable of training members of their craft and other Trainset mechanics in the operation and repair of systems and components to improve the skill level of all Trainset mechanics. In addition, the High Speed Electrical Technician must have a working knowledge of all electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and be able to make repairs to them based upon the training they received. They are expected to work in a team environment, performing other work as required regardless of classification to the level of their ability. They must possess the basic skills necessary to independently inspect, repair or replace components and troubleshot equipment to determine required corrective action and determine causes of failures on equipment which generally fall within the scope of their craft agreements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have successfully completed the required High Speed Rail Training Program.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Oversee, coordinate and execute installation, repairs, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on, including but not limited to, indoor lighting systems, electrical systems and apparatus, Main Power Distribution Systems and Panel Boards, outdoor facility lighting, construction projects, cafeteria equipment and HVAC systems in a federal government building in Washington, DC. Knowledge/use of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the facility maintenance trades. Ability to perform routine mechanical maintenance/repairs on a wide variety of Air Handling Equipment, hot/cold chilled water pumps and associated systems. Monitor and test various electrical systems. Coordinate inspections for sub-contractor performed work. Locate electrical underground wiring for various projects. Must maintain a valid Journeymans Electrician or HVAC License.
