Our service user is a sociable young woman who lives with her parents in Corby.
Fashion, being pampered and having her nails painted are things she particularly enjoys as well listening to music, being read to, and spending time with her friends and family.
Before the lockdown restrictions, she would often visit the local boating lake with the help of her care team.
Our service user has a visual impairment and is unable to communicate verbally. She will indicate how she is feeling by using expressions and emotions, such as laughing, smiling, crying, and changing her vocal range.
Clapping, smiling, and reaching out are some of the ways she will initiate conversation, as well as eye pointing and facial expressions to indicate her wants and needs.
You will need to ensure you become familiar with her forms of communication to enable to you to respond to her wants and needs.
Ideally you will have experience of using reassurance and distraction techniques effectively.

- Promote and deliver the full dining experience for all resident’s; assisting to serve meals and beverages and attending to residents requiring additional attention at mealtimes;
- Regularly attend to residents with reduced continence control, toileting, cleaning and changing continence pads and removing wet or soiled clothing to ensure the resident remains comfortable and the risk of skin deterioration is reduced;
- Carry out care activities in accordance with the care plan for less mobile and poorly residents, particularly turning and moving to reduce the risk of pressure sores;
- Assist residents with restricted mobility to move to communal areas or to return to their bedrooms as requested, using the correct moving and handling procedures as per the policy;
- Ensure bedroom areas are kept clean, tidy and pleasant for the service users by undertaking tasks such as making beds, regularly changing bed linen and emptying commodes;
- Responsible for the regular cleaning of equipment involved in personal care of residents, including commodes and wheelchairs;
- Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks in particular moving and handling of loads, ensuring the policies and procedures are adhered to at all times;
- Take responsibility for co-ordinating documentation of individual care plans, reporting back to the person in charge;
- Understand personal responsibilities with regards to Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling of residents and fire safety procedures;
- Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident;
- Encourage and contribute to working as a team - responding positively to colleagues and acting on all reasonable work instructions promptly.

Fashion, being pampered and having her nails painted are things she particularly enjoys as well listening to music, being read to, and spending time with her friends and family.
Before the lockdown restrictions, she would often visit the local boating lake with the help of her care team.
Our service user has a visual impairment and is unable to communicate verbally. She will indicate how she is feeling by using expressions and emotions, such as laughing, smiling, crying, and changing her vocal range.
Clapping, smiling, and reaching out are some of the ways she will initiate conversation, as well as eye pointing and facial expressions to indicate her wants and needs.
You will need to ensure you become familiar with her forms of communication to enable to you to respond to her wants and needs.
Ideally you will have experience of using reassurance and distraction techniques effectively.
Essential Experience Required
- 6 months previous care experience
- Medication Administration
- Personal Care
- Moving and Handling
- Managing challenging behaviours
Desirable Experience
- Gastrostomy Care (PEG Feeding)
- Tracheostomy Care
- Seizure Management
We have the following shifts available;
- Part Time Days
- 9am – 5pm
Hours will revert to evenings (17:30 – 21:00) once lockdown restrictions are eased
