The role is suitable for experienced staff. Support will be offered with an extensive training package in place.
As part of the expansion of our surgical services, we are looking for a Critical Care Nurse to support nursing staff and RMO. The role will provide direct care to patients recovering from complex surgeries assessing patients for potential deterioration.
Highly skilled assessing patient problems quickly & capable to use high-tech equipment. Advanced skills to support care of patients who potentially need intervention if at high risk of post-operative complications.
Patients may require respiratory, heart monitoring as well as treatment adjustments, managing medication doses, anaesthesia & ventilator support.

Monitor and record symptoms and changes in patients conditions and information to the consultant anaesthetist / consultant surgeon.
Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostics tests to identify and assess the patients condition.
Carefully observe and document patient medical information and vital signs.
Document patients medical histories and assessment findings.
Document patients treatment plans, interventions, outcomes, or plan revisions.
Consult and coordinate with health care team members about whole patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients response and conditions.
Monitor the critical patients for changes in status and indications of conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions.
Administer intravenous fluids and medications as per doctors order.
Monitor patients fluid intake and output to detect emerging problems such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Identify patients who are at risk of nutritional status.
Direct and supervise less-skilled nursing/health care personnel, or supervise a particular ward on shift.
Treat wounds and providing advanced life support.
Ensure that ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment function properly.
Ensure that equipment or devices are properly stored after use.
Identify malfunctioning equipment or devices.
Collaborate with fellow members of the MDT.
Respond to life-threatening situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment.
Care for pre-and post-operative patients when those patients require more close monitoring and care.
Work as a manager and policymaker, while others perform administrative duties.
Assess patients pain levels and requirements.
Prioritise nursing care for assigned deteriorating patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
Act as a patient advocate.
Draw ABG Blood and interpret the report correctly.
Have a confident understanding of GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) and also the evaluation capacity of patient condition.
