Description
The Rotation Engineer program is a key component in the Clean Technologies initiative to drive values for continued success including: customer satisfaction, speed, efficiency, and building a can-do culture universally throughout our organization.
The rotation program will begin in the Clean Technologies Engineering (CTE) Team and report to the Acid Process Engineering Manager during a 18-24-month assignment. After this assignment, the Rotation Engineer will move into 2-3 subsequent rotations, to include Licensing, Engineering, and Products. This role will support the MECS® Sulfuric Acid and Environmental Technologies business.

First Rotation: Clean Technologies Engineering (CTE) Team
A Process Engineer is responsible for learning the basic process technologies, learning & using the design tools and executing process designs for assigned proposals & projects. The Process Engineer is expected to work with design supervision to carry out the design philosophy expressed in the customer’s specifications and Clean Technology Engineering (CTE) design standards. The Process Engineer will work closely with their supervisors and other engineers on various projects or proposals. Attention to detail and quality work are required to provide designs that are competitive, reliable, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Complete the process engineering training program. Progress on the process engineer training checklist.
+ Use basic design skills to support the design effort on projects or proposals.
+ Develop an understanding of CTE organization and project execution process. This includes a basic understanding of CTE’s Marketing and Project structures, product offerings and internal contacts.
+ Participate in the startup, demonstration, and troubleshooting of new or modified plants to develop a personal background of plant operating experience.
+ Develop a sound understanding of safe operating practices within a plant.
+ Develop an understanding of environmental regulation within a plant.
+ Work with their supervisor to review engineering design documents and vendor data.
+ Assist in the preparation of process design packages and other proposals.
+ Develop an understanding of typical PFD’s and P&ID’s for various processes. A Process Engineer should be able to prepare basic process diagrams and heat & materials balances.
+ Develop good filing practices for the process calculations and correspondence.
Attend appropriate technical conferences and/or training as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Completing a Bachelors Degree from an ABET accredited program in Chemical Engineering
+ Knowledge of a process simulator (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.) and MS Office products is required.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills.
+ Strong organization skills.
+ Flexibility and interest in world-wide travel.
+ Demonstration of working well within a team atmosphere is preferred.
+ A desire to expand core-competencies.
+ Execute work proactively with a willingness to find a way to get things done.

Summary:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
•Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
•14+ years practical experience of Industrial Engineering in a manufacturing environment across multiple programs/platforms.
•Experience working with the following software and database technologies is required: (Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.)

Position Summary
  • Energizer is seeking to hire a Sr. Packaging Engineer for our St. Louis, Missouri location. In this position under the direction of the Global Packaging Shared Services Manager, you will work with minimal supervision to develop packaging for various products included in assigned projects. You will also serve as a packaging developer in support of innovation, cost savings and business continuity projects. In this position, you will serve as a contributing member of cross-functional business teams.  You will support the concept, development, manufacturability, and system setup of packaged products purchased from third-party suppliers globally.  You will have a major role in managing and monitoring progress against timelines and due dates as well as provide guidance and coaching to other colleagues assigned to the project.  
Accountabilities
  • Manage assigned Package Development projects, working with Brand and project teams, to meet category objectives and project ship dates.
  • Hold discussions during packaging team meetings; communicate technical issues and details to the project team and management.
  • Communicate and follow up with third-party suppliers to meet product requirements including timing, design, and quality.
  • Provide packaging options. Develop, engineer and test packaging components and modify as necessary to meet customer requirements, functional parameters, cost targets, manufacturing and shipping requirements.
  • Provide technical input to the package design process and assure package designed for manufacturing acceptability.
Specific Accountabilities
  • Execute new package designs and perform package component testing and qualification, working with suppliers, from engineering prints to making models/prototypes, through to unit and production tooling.
  • Work closely with third party product suppliers to guide them to meet packaging requirements including reviewing drawings, samples, specifications, and general artwork.
  • Work effectively with Package Shared Services resources (Specialist and Technicians) to assure the creation of timely functional specifications.
  • Develop strong relationships and communicate effectively to manage projects with Marketing, Procurement, Logistics, Operations and Suppliers.
  • Keep abreast of developments across appropriate packaging and manufacturing technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively organize and manage the workflow of multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Knowledge of packaging components and properties such as; films (thermoforming), paperboard (cards, folding cartons), corrugated materials.
  • Experience dealing with third party suppliers.
  • Experience with performing or reviewing standard test methods, such as ASTM protocols.
  • Strong background in project management. (3 to 5 years’ experience)
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 2-D and 3-D drafting experience (AutoCAD and Solidworks).

  • Assist in the Product Development Process to help increase speed of development for Class I and II medical devices.
  • Write and execute protocols, reports, inspection guidance, engineering studies, test methods, complaint analyses (as determined by QA), MRB analyses (as determined by ops) and ERP documentation for new products.
  • Complete evaluations as outlined in protocols, product / process validations, etc.
  • Use standard statistical methods to determine and interpret results using Excel, Minitab, or any other statistical software.
  • Complete 3D modeling or drawings for product line extensions or prototypes using SolidWorks (preferred) or any other modeling software.
  • Product or Process cost estimation for line extensions or small scale projects - Create or interpret routing and bill of materials using IFS or any other ERP software.
  • Organize or handle logistics of rapid prototyping, specifically 3D printing or machining of prototypes
  • Complete risk analysis for products or processes with guidance from other department members.
  • Develop and analyze test method effectiveness for line extensions or new products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
  • 2-4 Years of experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or food product development.  Applicants with significant internships or a full Co-op term in an applicable field would qualify.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Assist in the Product Development Process to help increase speed of development for Class I and II medical devices.
  • Write and execute protocols, reports, inspection guidance, engineering studies, test methods, complaint analyses (as determined by QA), MRB analyses (as determined by ops) and ERP documentation for new products.
  • Complete evaluations as outlined in protocols, product / process validations, etc.
  • Use standard statistical methods to determine and interpret results using Excel, Minitab, or any other statistical software.
  • Complete 3D modeling or drawings for product line extensions or prototypes using SolidWorks (preferred) or any other modeling software.
  • Product or Process cost estimation for line extensions or small scale projects - Create or interpret routing and bill of materials using IFS or any other ERP software.
  • Organize or handle logistics of rapid prototyping, specifically 3D printing or machining of prototypes
  • Complete risk analysis for products or processes with guidance from other department members.
  • Develop and analyze test method effectiveness for line extensions or new products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
  • 2-4 Years of experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or food product development.  Applicants with significant internships or a full Co-op term in an applicable field would qualify.

Primary Role

Responsible for supporting strategic long-term water and wastewater system planning and recommending projects or approaches to address needs related to source of supply, treatment, storage, pumping and transmission of water as well as collection, equalization, and treatment of wastewater.  Prepare or assist in the preparation of detailed asset investment plans considering the cost, timing, prioritization, operational need and risk. Responsibilities may also include project management, engineering design, and bidding, etc. on projects relating to various aspects of the business as well as the technical supervision over consulting project engineers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Research and collect asset records, operational information, engineering reports, and other information needed to characterize company facilities and equipment. 
  • System capacity evaluations, analysis of source, production, distribution, storage, or other system deficiencies as assigned to support ongoing operations, service extension requests or regional growth opportunities. 
  • Coordination and preparation of strategic water system planning studies (comprehensive or targeted, issue based studies as appropriate) as assigned.
  • Ability to serve as a competent technical resource on Water System Planning matters including capital planning, safe yield analysis, demand projections, production adequacy, transmission and distribution adequacy, computerized hydraulic modeling and analysis, water conservation, regionalization, and other pertinent subjects as needed to support operational and business needs. Present results of engineering analysis to interested parties within and outside of the company. 
  • Manage multiple projects and perform varied engineering assignments associated with planning, design or implementation. 
  • Pursues educational opportunities and professional development to enhance performance and contributions to the organization. 
  • Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business. 

Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design theory and practice, project management, water resources, and water/wastewater facilities and utility operations. Working knowledge of regulatory developments, new technology and current trends in water quality, treatment and Engineering economics. Sound business acumen and judgment. Understanding of asset planning, water system comprehensive master planning, distribution system hydraulic modeling or equivalent water system design is beneficial.

Skills:

  • Leadership ability and interpersonal skills, as well as, solid verbal and written communication skills and keen listening abilities.
  • Detail oriented to conduct through analysis and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations.

Experience/Education

  • This posiiton is open to current college students (undergraduate and graduate) that have completed at least 2 years of studies in an enginereing field.

The Rotation Engineer program is a key component in the Clean Technologies initiative to drive values for continued success including: customer satisfaction, speed, efficiency, and building a can-do culture universally throughout our organization.


The rotation program will begin in the Clean Technologies Engineering (CTE) Team and report to the Acid Process Engineering Manager during a 18-24-month assignment. After this assignment, the Rotation Engineer will move into 2-3 subsequent rotations, to include Licensing, Engineering, and Products. This role will support the MECS® Sulfuric Acid and Environmental Technologies business.

First Rotation: Clean Technologies Engineering (CTE) Team


A Process Engineer is responsible for learning the basic process technologies, learning & using the design tools and executing process designs for assigned proposals & projects. The Process Engineer is expected to work with design supervision to carry out the design philosophy expressed in the customer’s specifications and Clean Technology Engineering (CTE) design standards. The Process Engineer will work closely with their supervisors and other engineers on various projects or proposals. Attention to detail and quality work are required to provide designs that are competitive, reliable, and efficient.


Key Responsibilities:


+ Complete the process engineering training program. Progress on the process engineer training checklist.

+ Use basic design skills to support the design effort on projects or proposals.

+ Develop an understanding of CTE organization and project execution process. This includes a basic understanding of CTE’s Marketing and Project structures, product offerings and internal contacts.

+ Participate in the startup, demonstration, and troubleshooting of new or modified plants to develop a personal background of plant operating experience.

+ Develop a sound understanding of safe operating practices within a plant.

+ Develop an understanding of environmental regulation within a plant.

+ Work with their supervisor to review engineering design documents and vendor data.

+ Assist in the preparation of process design packages and other proposals.

+ Develop an understanding of typical PFD’s and P&ID’s for various processes. A Process Engineer should be able to prepare basic process diagrams and heat & materials balances.

+ Develop good filing practices for the process calculations and correspondence.


Attend appropriate technical conferences and/or training as assigned.


Qualifications


+ Completing a Bachelors Degree from an ABET accredited program in Chemical Engineering

+ Knowledge of a process simulator (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.) and MS Office products is required.

+ Strong leadership and communication skills.

+ Strong organization skills.

+ Flexibility and interest in world-wide travel.

+ Demonstration of working well within a team atmosphere is preferred.

+ A desire to expand core-competencies.

+ Execute work proactively with a willingness to find a way to get things done.
