Position Description:
AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) is a division of AMETEK, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. The Specialty Metal Products division includes five successful businesses with operating facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
With a strong focus on safety, the AMETEK Hamilton Precision Metals plant in Lancaster, PA custom re-roll precision metal strip and foil, including titanium, nickel and nickel-based alloys, stainless steel and super alloys with applications in medical, aerospace, electronics, and process control.
We are seeking a safety-conscious, action-oriented Process Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for being a primary resource in continuous improvement efforts, problem solving, and process metallurgy to meet customer demands.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Support quality processes with the objective of reducing the cost of poor quality to Ametek and its customers through the application of root cause analysis for the development and implementation of corrective actions to address nonconformance issues.
2. Develop understanding of process routing and assign process flow paths to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements for product.
3. Demonstrate ability to assess and initiate opportunities for improving yield, reducing costs, and improving workflow
4. Support the operations within the metallurgical lab and quality inspectors based on operational and customer needs.
5. Must be able to perform product specification and sales review to determine capabilities for meeting requirements of customer.
6. Individual must understand metallography and mechanical testing equipment.
Position Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
2. Preferably 3- 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment. Cold rolling of specialty metals a plus. Recent engineering graduates will be considered.
3. Must have demonstrated skills with PC office applications such as MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
4. Ability to travel to visit customers on an as needed basis.

Maintain knowledge of new equipment, materials, and packages to improve cost, quality, and performance of packaging ensuring "Best Practices" are utilized across the organization.
Provide overall leadership or support of capital improvement projects including the development of project requirements, project justification, equipment flow sheets and process line layouts.
Accountable for new equipment startup, operator training, written operating procedures and specifications, and conformance to project justification criteria.
Responsible for timely and effective communication of project activities to superiors and to internal customers, including Department and Facility Managers, Corporate Marketing, and project team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
Minimum of seven years of mastery of packaging skills including packaging optimization, and project management.
Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project Management software
Emphasis and experience in packaging processes, equipment, materials and project management
Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles a plus.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to develop beautiful, reliable, economical, and sustainable packaging solutions for children's toys and products that promote early stage development
  • Coordinate with Operations and Product Development teams early and often to ensure economical and cost-effective packaging configurations, palletization, and container loading
  • Evaluate new and existing product designs to improve packaging aesthetics and performance
  • Own the end-to-end packaging solution process that can safely and successfully transport finished products from the factory floor to the end customer's point of delivery
  • Create packaging designs relative to strict safety, regulatory and performance requirements
  • Create packaging specifications using CAD software and manage file storage systems to maintain version control

  • Experience with environmentally sustainable packaging materials including cardboard, paperboard, molded paper pulp, recyclable plastics, and other compostable materials
