The Exciting Opportunity

The position of a 20 hour per week  Commis Chef has become available at Courtyard Edinburgh West. There will be the opportunity for overtime when business levels increase. Reporting into the Head Chef, you will be a vital part of the kitchen team.  Duties include food preparation, assisting with service and maintaining health and safety practices. Kitchen Porter duties will also be part of this job role.

To be successful you must have a positive ‘can do' attitude, be willing to learn and show that you care.  This position has a varied shift pattern to include early and late shifts over a 7 day period.

Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West, situated on the Heriot-Watt University Campus, opened its doors in November 2017.

• An experienced Chef who has already worked at this level in a busy hotel banqueting department.
• Familiarity working in a mixed corporate and leisure environment where you have undertaken kitchen management duties including working within hygiene regulations.

THE ROLE

As Banquet Chef you will focus on the banqueting department which can offer seated events for up to 300 covers.

• The hotel uses both regen oven and plated service styles in the banqueting department depending on the requirements of the organisers of the function.
• Although you will be focused on the banqueting department, you will be expected to assist in other areas where required and to support the Head Chef at all times.
• In this position of Banquet Chef you will be expected to ensure that all health and safety procedures are implemented at all times and to comply with hygiene regulations.
• You will also help design menus, complete ordering of supplies and assist with staff training.

THE PERSON

For this role you must be able to lead by example, have excellent attention to detail, be self-motivated and a team player. Excellent communication and organisation skills are essential.
