POSITION SUMMARY

The City of Medford has a new full-time opportunity with a generous comprehensive benefit package for a Public Works Technician within the Surface Maintenance division of the Public Works Department.        

This position is responsible for street surface maintenance including both concrete and asphalt streets and bridge decks; and concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk maintenance and is under general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor. The Public Works Technician performs equipment operation and public works construction and maintenance duties.
Typically the work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 10 hours/day.  However, employees may be required to work variable shifts, respond after hours, and be on-call for one-week periods.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Minimum of 18 years old by time of hire.
  • Two (2) years of equipment operation and related civil construction and maintenance experience.
  • Possession of Class A Oregon Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain CDL within six months of hire date.
Desired Attributes:
  • Previous public works experience.
  • Experience in any of the following:
    • Asphalt paving
    • Concrete forming and pouring

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.62 (first step) to $21.64 or $22.78 (second or third step).  Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law.  Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Thèse sur la description et la modélisation de l'endommagement d'un composite à matrice céramique sous sollicitations thermomécaniques.
Les matériaux composites à matrice céramique (CMC) sont principalement utilisés dans l'industrie aéronautique et spatiale pour des applications structurales à haute température.
Longtemps réservés au domaine de l'aviation militaire, ces matériaux ont fait leur apparition dans l'aviation civil en 2017 avec leur utilisation en série dans les moteurs LEAP.Depuis, leur emploi est envisagé pour d'autres pièces de moteurs d'avions civils comme alternative aux solutions métalliques
Les CMC sont généralement renforcés par une préforme textile tissée.Le matériau de l'étude, constitué de fibres SiC Hi-Nicalon Type S et d'une matrice SiC-Si, présente des avantages indéniables (tenue à haute température, non-fragilité) pour de nombreuses applications potentielles.
Cependant, un dimensionnement optimal des pièces envisagées nécessite une compréhension fine de son comportement thermomécanique, et en particulier, de son endommagement jusqu'à rupture.
L'objet de cette thèse est donc de décrire et de modéliser la cinétique d'endommagement de ce matériau.
Complementary description
Trois axes de travail ayant de fortes synergies sont proposés :
+ • Réaliser des essais pour identifier et décrire la cinétique d'endommagement. Ce travail nécessitera d'utiliser, avec l'appuis des équipes, des moyens de caractérisation mécaniques et morphologiques (post-mortem ou in-situ) afin de décrire les différentes familles de fissures, leur localisation et leur évolution au cours du chargement ;
+ • A partir de ces observations expérimentales, et grâce à l'expérience conjointe du LCTS et de Safran Ceramics, une approche de modélisation multi-échelle, appuyée par des analyses micromécaniques ou énergétiques, sera développée pour permettre d'identifier les caractéristiques et les propriétés clés qui guident l'endommagement (p. ex. contraintes de cisaillement interfacial, longueurs de décohésion, pas de fissuration, contraintes internes, etc.)
+ • Ces développements seront utilisés pour mener une étude paramétrique afin d'explorer les limites du concept du matériau actuel et d'expliquer la variabilité du comportement mécanique, notamment sur les propriétés à rupture.

Job Purpose

POSITION SUMMARY


Conduct investigations and gather evidence related to theft/fraud or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, and other guest complaints and incidents. Conduct interviews with relevant parties in order to obtain statements and information related to incidents. Assist with and notify manager/supervisor, local police, or other appropriate individuals in the event of accidents, attacks, or other incidents. Complete incident reports to document all Security/Loss Prevention related incidents such as theft, accidents, physical hazards, and fire alarms. Handle business interruptions and complaints, such as suspicious individuals, civil disturbances or demonstrations, noise complaints, intoxicated individuals, etc. Escort any unwelcome persons from the property without interrupting the orderly flow of property operation. Defuse guest or employee disturbances/altercations, including summoning appropriate authorities if necessary, and documenting incident.


Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manage. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs. Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems. In addition, some states may have additional licensing/registration requirements to be considered for this position. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print). Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects). Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems. Move at a speed required to respond to work situations (e.g., run, walk, jog). Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds with assistance. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
