Comprehensive Care
Dominican offers emergency services and is a Certified Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. Dominican’s services include the only comprehensive Cancer Center in Santa Cruz County, a Total Joint Replacement program, and advanced neurological and endoscopic services. Dominican regularly receives ‘A’ grades for hospital safety from Leapfrog Group, and has received national recognition for superior patient safety, cardiac care, and stroke treatment from Healthgrades, a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
As Santa Cruz County’s heart attack (STEMI) receiving center, Dominican Hospital provides cutting edge cardiac care. The hospital’s heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average, and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.
Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.

Beyond care inside the hospital, Dominican is dedicated to the health and wellness of the Santa Cruz community.
Community programs include a Mobile Wellness Clinic, a tattoo removal program, and support groups for patients and new mothers. In addition, and in accordance with our mission, Dominican Hospital supports programs for the underserved in our community, including children and adults, students, seniors, and the homeless population. Dominican also has received several awards for environmental excellence.
Position Summary:
Pharmacist Associates ensure timely and accurate preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products within Dominican Hospital. This position assures that the medication orders are consistent with current medical practice, F.D.A. and drug manufacture recommendations, current literature and/or other information sources. The Pharmacist Associate resolves variations from the above standards with members of the Medical Staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. Pharmacist Associates provide information and guidance in the proper administration of medications as necessary for health care providers, patients, and family.
Minimum:
Preferred:
Two years work experience in health-systems pharmacy or educational equivalent. Graduate of an acceptable school of pharmacy with an emphasis on health-systems pharmacy. One-year internship/externship or two years work experience in health-systems pharmacy experience required. Current and valid California Pharmacy License. Current BLS and ACLS certification required for pharmacists scheduled to work in CCU (otherwise preferred). Basic understanding of personal computers, preferably Windows/DOS based. Basic understanding of how computer systems work and how they interface with each other (ie, Cerner, Omnicell) in the health care industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Current and valid California Pharmacy License. Current BLS and ACLS certification required for pharmacists scheduled to work in CCU (otherwise preferred)
• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Pharmacy or Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.).
• Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e. APhA).
• Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state for which you are applying.

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to assist customers with their health care needs by filling prescriptions, providing clinical services and excellent customer service while supervising Pharmacy associates. Frequent independent judgments are essential.
