Job Title: Accounting Analyst

Location: Chatham, Ontario

Anticipated Duration: 8 Months

Overview:

• The Accounting Analyst supports the financial reporting and analysis processes.
• This role must deliver efficient, timely and accurate financial reporting in a harmonized manner, while ensuring that a robust internal control environment is maintained in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Key Responsibilities Analyze and prepare complex financial statements and reports.
• Perform monthly and quarterly close processes and post-close reporting; perform variance analytics and forecasting/planning activities.
• Balance Sheet Integrity (BSI), and other related activities.
• Interface and maintain connectivity with the businesses that are supported by financial processes delivered within the team.
• Contribute to the delivery of financial processes in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
• Work with the various audit, tax and legal teams to provide key data.
• Interact with the business to provide appropriate financial data and support on ad hoc projects.
• Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
• Share best practices within the team and with customers.

Responsibilities:

• As the Sr. Analyst Capital Assets, you will work closely with the other members of your team to ensure key reporting deadlines are met, reports are accurate and complete, and accounting issues are resolved in a timely manner.
 Prepare, review and analyze the internal financial reporting process including internal financial statements, monthly performance reports and schedules, journal entries, and reconciliation of general ledgers on a Canadian and US GAAP accounting basis

Job Description
• Lead general ledger team for Vitesco USA & Canada – to ensure compliance with IFRS and internal reporting standards – including 4 direct reports
• Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly closing of the books in global consolidation tool
• Provide accounting guidance across the business functions to support the Region
• Responsible for preparation of financial statements and notes to the financial statements for internal review and coordination with external auditors
• Co-ordinate internal audit testing and performance reporting
• Ensure compliance with company policy and local regulations
• Continuously review the operations and internal processes, system development and harmonize in order to enhance efficiency
• Coach and develop young talent to provide high quality and valuable service, building the talent pool for the financial community;
• Hold regular team review meeting; Setup and monitor Team targets and KPIs; Define performance metrics and report team performance regularly
Job Requirements
Professional Designation (CPA)
IFRS experience
SAP experience 3-5 yrs preferred
People / Team Management
Advanced Microsoft Office skills - PowerBI is a plus
Additional Language skills (e.g. Spanish or German) an asset
Valid Driver's license and passport required.
Some international travel may be required.

The Financial Analyst is located in Markham, ON and reports directly to the Director, Financial Planning & Analytics.  The role will be supporting the monthly reporting and analytics to the Facility Services lines of business.  The successful incumbent will develop key working relationships with members of the FM, Service, Shared Service teams and Controllers group. The role will work with these teams to drive successful monthly reporting and analytic improvements.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Compile data to prepare key performance indicators and related analytics
  • Provide monthly analytics and reports company-wide
  • Perform data governance related data analytics and clean up
  • Prepare analysis in support of the annual Corporate office and ERP allocations to the regions
  • Assist with data governance queries, issues, and make recommendations
  • Proactively engage in process improvement working groups, controls and compliance activities and business intelligence projects.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders to improve and simplify reporting & various processes
  • Assist in reviewing and documenting processes
  • Participation in special projects and provide ad-hoc analysis on potential acquisitions, as required
  • Provide financial analysis support to other functions (included but not limited to HR, PMO) as required
  • Provide support for control related activities in connection with external audits

Advanced knowledge and understanding of:

  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrates ability to summarize and distil volumes of data into meaningful management reports
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Visual Basic an asset

  • Travel to downtown Toronto or other offices may be required
