This department focuses on the full programme management life cycle of the implementation of our highly automated, multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) - from pre-deal, through to the design, construction, installation, testing and ‘go-live’ phases (with all the process and portfolio management in between). This department is instrumental in ensuring we deliver these CFCs on time, to budget, and to the specific requirements of each client.

Within Platform Implementation sits the Engineering Supply Chain function who are looking to recruit an Engineering Buyer who will ensure that orders are placed and tracked in line with multi-site customer demand while maintaining appropriate supporting process and information in a transparent and timely manner and communicating with suppliers and internal customers.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Raise purchase orders, follow up, check deliveries against invoices and associated administrative processes
  • Monitor receipts and returns against purchase orders
  • Monitor supply and demand, rescheduling deliveries where appropriate
  • Maintain purchasing data
  • Continuously improve processes to improve transparency and efficiency
  • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum response and service levels
  • Ensure agreed customer service levels are met
  • Maintain KPIs and report regularly
  • Work with other teams to introduce new products effectively

About you

  • High level of computer literacy with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and ERP software
  • Experience of justifying and raising Purchase Orders
  • Understanding of forecasting, stock control and Just in Time practices
  • Although based at our Hertfordshire head office, you will occasionally be expected to travel to sites both in the UK and abroad
  • Highly numerate and proficient in Excel with demonstrated analytical skills
  • Proficient in administrative and clerical duties
  • Ability to work in dynamic, team-oriented, fast-paced environment

The main purpose of this role is to secure agreements and acquire strategic land on behalf of the Company suitable for current and future development. Your duties will include:

  • To form and maintain close working relationships with land agents and other parties associated with land acquisitions and contracts.

  • To identifydevelopment sites located within Crest Nicholson’s area of operation.
  • To assist in evaluating potential land opportunities by carrying out market research, planning assessments, technical and financial appraisals.
  • To assist in the coordination of external consultants in the preparation design and technical information in order to evaluate land opportunities.
  • To assist in formulating land values by determining the optimum dwelling mix, layout and configuration and purchase terms in line with the Company’s financial policies and objectives.
  • To assist in making land offers to purchase and negotiating the most advantageous price and terms direct with the vendor or their Agents and upon terms which are commercially satisfactory to the Company and approved by the Strategic Land & Planning Director
  • To assist in the exchange of contracts to purchase and, ultimately, the legal completion, by assisting in managing Solicitors and to obtain legal verification that the terms of purchase are satisfactory to the Company. To assist other members of the Land and Planning team in the preparation and management of planning applications.

Qualifications, experience and skills:

  • HND in Business Studies or land/construction related qualification.
  • BSc in Residential Development, Urban Estate Surveying or Associated Subject
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Previous experience of working with strategic land is advantageous but not essential
  • Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require it
