This role is within the Instrumentation and Specialty Controls Brookfield Engineering Business unit.
Viscometers, rheometers, texture analyzers and powder flow testers used in R&D, QC and inline applications for rheological fluid analysis, tension/compression analysis and powder flow analysis. Markets include food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, personal care products, adhesives, printing inks and coatings, paper coatings, chemicals, packaging, plastics, construction materials, and asphalt.
Manage all phases of Purchasing in support of Manufacturing (Including but not limited to Master Scheduling, Purchasing, and Inventory Control) to meet customer product delivery requirements.
Responsible for developing purchasing plans, strategies, policies, and procedures to meet delivery, quality and cost reduction/goals.
Responsible for developing the strategic course and tactics for Purchasing activities as well as direct hands-on support of those activities
Performs cost and supply analysis and develops optimized purchasing plan for major commodities (e.g., steel, aluminum, zinc, packaging, components, equipment and services).
Responsible for global supply planning of all purchased commodities, products and materials.
Develops and maintains Purchasing master data and insures the data reflects current market and company conditions
.
Develops new domestic and global supply sources as needed, and pro-actively identifies potential future sources to be evaluated and qualified.
Investigates and implements cost saving proposals including alternative sourcing, alternative materials, optimized supply planning, supplier and material consolidation, and efficient freight-in costs.
Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve supplier quality issues. Acts as primary point of contact with the supplier and leads all communications related to quality or service.
Monitors commodity markets for variability in pricing and supply.
Develops, reviews, and obtains Legal approval for proposed supply contracts.
Design and execute supply strategies to achieve targeted working capital budget.
Calculate need for and execute purchase requisitions through conversion to and placement of purchase orders or schedule agreement releases.
Evaluate supply chain abilities to support ad-hoc or un-forecasted demand changes.
Provide appropriate definition of priorities to sources of supply whenever supply is constrained. Support allocation processes as required.
Participate in and contribute to sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes.
Interface with multiple departments to address process exceptions including material shortages, accounts payable discrepancies, receiving issues, etc.
Identify opportunities, develop options and recommendations to continuously drive process and product innovation.
Insure process compliance of calculating purchasing cost objectives within a Total Costing methodology.
Aid in the development, monitoring, and maintenance of key performance metrics.
Drive continuous improvement across the business and team capabilities by applying lean methodologies and driving consensus through leadership and team building
Mentor and develop team members to elevate group capabilities.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or any major related to the job description.
7-10 years of relevant procurement or supply chain materials management experience in support of a manufacturing operation.
Five years’ supervisory experience with at least two direct reports
Must possess potential for advancement into higher level management roles.
Demonstrated success with developing a strategic procurement approach in parallel to tactical hands-on engagement.
Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment required with demonstrated success in continuous improvement activity.
Six Sigma experience required; Green Belt certification preferred.
Kaizen leadership/facilitation experience preferred.
Current professional certifications preferred (e.g., APICS, ISM).
Advanced capabilities in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
Demonstrated history of success as an Agent of Change.

Superior negotiation skills covering all aspects of sourcing, procurement, services, and product development.
Strong decision-making abilities driven by data analysis, and the ability to structure and execute that analysis.
Functional knowledge of supplier processes, supplier quality management including auditing and supplier scorecards
Superior communication skills with the ability to develop and present complex data and recommendations.
Global sourcing experience with low cost countries a plus.
Ability to work independently with the demonstrated ability to establish priorities, plan workload and establish commitments for task completion
Knowledge of and experience in a TQM environment.
Requires experience in both a manual environment as well as ERP applications (Syteline preferred).

SCOPE OF THE ROLE
Leads site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Facility and Maintenance efforts, developing a team to ensure that the site maintains a Safety-First Culture, active and effective facilities vendor relationships, and efficiently running machines in a high-paced potentially 24-hour operation. Serves an essential role in leading, partnering and supporting business driven technical and strategic initiatives in alignment with the overall operating plan. Additional responsibilities include; complying with OSHA, EPA, ISO and provides overall planning and strategic direction for the operations and maintenance of all equipment, physical structures, and landscaping in compliance with brand standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect the assets, guests, and employees. Partners with Value Stream Managers to ensure optimum operations; and minimize expenses and maximize customer service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIRED ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will lead projects that will drive improvement in key EHS and facilities performance indicators (KPIs). He/she will also be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing aspects of facility and grounds upkeep, services, security and utilities programs.
_Champion a Safety-First Culture:_
+ Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with safe workplace programs, policies and procedures that enhance incident prevention and compliance with company, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations + Interface directly and appropriately with all regulatory agencies + Conduct or coordinate effective training for all employees in areas such as safe-workplace policies, practices, laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment + Own the process for ensuring effective safety training for all new hires and on an ongoing basis in alignment with position specific and regulatory requirements + Investigate industrial accidents, injuries or occupational diseases to determine root cause and recommend preventive measures + Prepare and submit reports, including but not limited to incident flash reports, monthly reports, and finding reports from incident investigations or facility inspections + Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure regulation compliance + Assess ergonomic conditions and environment to reduce incidence of muscular-skeletal conditions + Review plans and specifications for construction or installation of new equipment to ensure that all safe-workplace requirements have been met + Diligently manage worker’s compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and to facilitate timely claim closure + Collaborate with human resources in all situations involving modified work duty, work restrictions, or accommodation. + Perform monthly environmental audits + Review and report findings from incident investigations, facility inspections or environmental testing
_Maintenance and Facilities:_
+ Audit the facility and site for compliance with company security standards + Lead efforts to ensure security measures and programs are current and well defined. + Update SOPs and procedure documents as necessary + Provide training to workforce to ensure security practices are understood consistently applied + Manages the contracts for contracted firms performing work on the plant grounds, including landscaping and snow removal + Collaborate as needed ensure appropriate upkeep of the building + Ensure that the facility confirms to local, state, federal and regulatory codes and standards + Ensures compliance with regulatory codes and standards + Serves as the primary point of contact for all interested parties relative to fire systems + Perform audits and training on electrical systems + Maintain a proper tool inventory for the Maintenance Department, which includes the ordering of new tools direct from suppliers + Develop and maintain preventative maintenance program for all required facility assets + Analyze machinery failure and implement plans to prevent future failures + Monitors equipment function and maintains optimal settings of major operating systems + Direct, lead, train, and develop employees assigned to the EHS and the Maintenance Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent + 7 to 10 years related experience in a manufacturing environment + Some limited domestic travel may be required + Demonstrated understanding of local, federal and state regulations + Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy safety programs in a manufacturing environment + Strong collaboration, communication, training and coaching skills + Ability to influence behavioral change + Knowledge of worker’s compensation processes and practices + Good working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment + Able to coordinate parts, parts deliveries, repairs, and preventative maintenance to keep plant operating at its fullest
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Training as a first-responder or EMT/paramedic is not required but strongly preferred + Industry certifications are not required, but strongly preferred
