Position Title: Maintenance Lead Nights

Reports To: Site Reliability or Engineering Manager

Hours: 6:00pm – 6:30am. 4 days on/4 days off

Purpose of Role:

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of their shift maintenance team.  The Maintenance Lead must be multi-skilled to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the site’s manufacturing equipment, utilities equipment, and factory infrastructure.  Additionally, the Maintenance Lead also directs and trains the Maintenance Techs and facilitates the transfer of knowledge.  The Maintenance Lead is responsible to identify, prioritize, plan and execute day-to-day activities with little or no supervision, and to promptly and effectively communicate with all other departments within the site. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment, including 480V electrical power, instrumentation, motor controls, VFD’s, Servo’s, I/O devices/modules, PLC’s, HMI’s, sensors, actuators, and conveyors. 
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and malfunctions utilizing a working knowledge and understanding of the equipment, and tools required to troubleshoot process as well as packaging equipment.
• Train and assist technicians to troubleshoot, repair, replace and calibrate all electrical sensing devices and instrumentation including:  photoelectric, inductive, capacitive, pressure, temperature, weight, position sensors, flow, and analytical instruments.
• Train and assist technicians to troubleshoot, repair, replace and commission all components of modern process and packaging equipment including: AC drives, DC drives, Servo Controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, cylinders, and sensors.

• Identify and recommend changes to improve plant performance utilizing existing or new equipment. 

• Manage and support factory utilities infrastructure including air compressors, boilers, chillers, including implementing upgrades and other vendor updates. 
• Coordinate the preventive maintenance work orders by team members, and following up to ensure the completion and effectiveness of each task.
• Act as technical resource to operations.  Assist operations and maintenance associates to meet daily priorities, coverage, and special projects. 
• Support the introduction to the plant of new equipment and technologies
• Direct the work activities of outside contractors, maintenance technicians, and other associates.
• Train and support non-technical users on the use of plant floor equipment.

• Lead the implementation of small scope projects in assigned area. 
• Make improvements as required to PM’s on various manufacturing and packaging equipment, and document activities using computerized maintenance management system.
• Observe all OSHA and company safety rules and use the proper safety equipment at all times. Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous hazards and take immediate corrective action. 
• Effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and upper management on a daily basis, and be willing to provide support where needed and complete other duties as assigned by Manager.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge

• Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing facility equipment and systems and their applications.
• Working knowledge of troubleshooting, testing, and repairing industrial equipment, motor controls (including VFD’s and servo’s), and instrumentation.

• Understanding of networks including Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet.

Position Purpose

As a proactive team member, working varying shifts, the Automation Technician is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. Maintenance activities must ensure that employee health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance and business priorities. The Automation Technician will adhere to all health and safety policies and directives and maintain a clean safe work area. This position partners with internal and external engineering services and local parts vendors to ensure automated equipment operates at the highest level of efficiencies and will advocate improvement projects as assigned.

Major/Key Accountabilities

· Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems including program logic control (PLC) systems controls machine network devices (EthernetIP Network). The Automation Technician will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in all plant manufacturing equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, conveyers, process pallet handling machines, dismantling, painting and stencilling systems.

· Responsible for hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all process hand tools, such as pneumatic or electric reciprocating saws and nail guns

· Performs minor unscheduled maintenance and repair on trucking equipment such as forklifts and yard shuttle trucks

· The Automation Technician is responsible for accurate and timely documentation of performance and processes as required by local and regional leadership. The Automation Technician will schedule, execute and properly document work orders within the corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

· The Automation Technician will accurately complete additional scheduling and repair material documentation and reporting as required. Active participation in machine process and design improvement forums is required. The Automation Technician will provide coaching on use and repair of industrial production equipment.

· Maintenance Technician 2 will participate in health and safety programs including council or committee meetings, OSHA and corporate mandated training, certification and recertification.

Qualifications

· Mechanically inclined – Knowledge of and demonstrable ability to use common mechanics tools.

· Willing to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays with on-call availability.

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12 hours and lift 75 pounds.

· Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting.

· Ability to use an electrical Multimeter for troubleshooting.

• Conducts activities to protect the wellbeing of our employees, the public, and the environment to ensure compliance with preventative measures by inspecting production area and equipment including properly completing required inspection forms, identifying regulatory compliance and maintenance problems and implementing appropriate corrective action.
• Enforces and monitors safety rules and practices to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel and ensures personnel are knowledgeable about any potential or known hazards and takes all necessary precautions.

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Five or more years’ experience in hazardous waste industry.

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and RCRA.
• Knowledge on Plant health and safety awareness .
• Ability to manage within an established budget as well as strong knowledge of budgetary processes, P&L statements, asset management, and project management.   
• Knowledge of electrical distribution, steam generation, hydraulics, material handling concepts, and other general mechanical equipment. 
• Continuous Improvement or Lean experience strongly preferred.

• Position requires extensive lifting, walking, bending, reaching, and pushing
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in an outdoor plant environment occasionally
• Must be willing and able to wear personal protection equipment such as Tyvek suit, goggles, and respirator.

Job Duties:

• Lays out, fabricates, modifies, assembles and proves-in electronic, electromechanical, pressure, vacuum, computerized, environmental and scientific test equipment and systems
• Assembles printed circuit boards and vector boards used in the manufacture of test equipment  Installs, maintains, inspects for conformance to specifications, services, troubleshoots and calibrates electronic, electromechanical, pressure, vacuum, environmental, computerized and scientific test equipment and systems, including electrical service boxes (inside test equipment), laboratory instruments, meters, lasers, computers and data acquisition system
• Test equipment is defined as equipment or gaging which electrically or electromechanically accepts the product or is used in the manufacture of the product
• May perform related tasks as necessary in the completion of the employee's primary work assignment in the Electronic Equipment Technician classification
• Performs complete check-out of testers and effects calibration
• Performs complete evaluation of new or modified equipment and determines its acceptability  Determines that test equipment meets design intent and functions properly
• Performs rework and replacement of components
• Performs evaluation on test equipment as directed by the engineer and all evaluation on consecutive out-of-tolerance calibration readings
• May write and use programs to assist in the prove-in, evaluation, calibration, maintenance and repair of test equipment
• Makes any necessary setups and must be familiar with and apply electrical and electronic circuitry techniques, principles, formulae and troubleshooting techniques
• Computer programming and technical mathematics may be required, in addition to theory and application of digital electronics, microprocessors, R. F. and environmental control
• May perform in-process inspection
• Responsible for all drawings and prints as a part of the print package.

You Must Have:

• US Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance
• Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, or a 2 year Technical Degree, or equivalent military training

• Experience using spreadsheets and other tools to analyze and interpret data

• Good organizational skills with ability to schedule multiple workload events
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Summary

Performs maintenance and repair duties and assigned tasks having to do with hospital mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains and operates the building powerhouse/boiler system as required by city code.
• Maintain and repair non-patient contact hospital equipment, and various Life Safety systems.
• Orders parts and materials as needed
• This is a Sunday - Thursday day shift position that also fills in for vacation relief
