Overview
+ Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the coordinating and executing repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on; including, but not limited to, indoor lighting systems, electrical systems and apparatus, main power distribution systems and panel boards, outdoor facility lighting, construction projects and HVAC systems. Responsibilities

+ Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.

Job Responsibilities

Summary/Objective

Kansas City is a facility specializing in steel and aluminum coil blanking to service the Automotive Stamping Industry. Your primary goal is to ensure equipment and machinery are functioning properly by inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and updating all electrical systems and components. This includes performing all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and standards. Your position will also include performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components as well as troubleshooting problems to make timely repairs.


Essential Functions

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of industrial equipment.

• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and malfunctions.

• Utilize a working knowledge of control system programs and tools required to troubleshoot PLC’s, HMI’s, and VFD/servo systems including electrical schematics, programming software, meters, and other electrical test equipment.

• Work as a team member or alone to complete projects.

• Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.

• Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning and make decisions based on technical documents.

Qualifications

Work Environment

JOB GOAL: Under general supervision, performs the full range of skilled, journeyman level Electrician duties in order to support the education mission of the District and to enhance the education environment. Minimum of four (4) years’ work experience as a Journey-level electrician or equivalent work experience with an emphasis in a commercial, educational or facilities operations setting.

 

Knowledge of public schools or university operations. (Preferred)

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs skilled maintenance and repair of building structures, equipment and facilities, with major emphasis on electric systems and components
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures control devices and equipment.
  • Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components.
  • Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, and municipal safety regulations, codes and specifications.

Overview

+ Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the coordinating and executing repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on; including, but not limited to, indoor lighting systems, electrical systems and apparatus, main power distribution systems and panel boards, outdoor facility lighting, construction projects and HVAC systems. Responds to emergency power and back-up systems failures. Monitors and tests various electrical systems. Assists in performing a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.





Responsibilities




+ Responsible to perform all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible to maintain a safe work environment.


+ Provides leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to Electricians in the performance of their day-to-day activities.


+ Disseminates instructions to lower level workers on information received from supervisors and gets work started by assigning the immediate tasks to members of the Work group


+ Coordinates and executes preventive and corrective maintenance troubleshooting and repairs on facility electrical systems and apparatuses


+ Supervises inspections and repairs on Main Power Distribution Systems, Panel Boards and indoor/outdoor lighting systems


+ Conducts project review and training assigned personnel


+ Monitors and tests various electrical systems


+ Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.


+ Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.


+ Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.


+ Performs other duties and assignments as required.




Qualifications




+ Minimum Qualifications


+ Education/Experience: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.


+ The work of the electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.


+ Industrial Training Certificate/ Diploma in Electrical


+ Must possess a driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.


+ Must be able to lift 50lbs.




+ Experience


+ Minimum of three (3) years' of experience as an electrician.




+ Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


+ General knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the electrical trade.


+ Must have excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.


+ Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties.


+ Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.




+ Working Environment


+ Most time spent indoors but possible exposure to extreme hot temperatures when working outside. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels, and vibration of body and extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc.


+ Able to maneuver in small spaces


+ Operates motor vehicles


+ Elevated platforms including but not limited to 120ft


+ Electrical PPE such as ARC Flash suits and rubber protective gear


+ Ladders
