JOB TITLE:   Industrial Electrician

DEPARTMENT:   Maintenance                                                         

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

As part of a High Performance Work Team, assists with the ongoing development of maintenance programs such as RWP (Reliability Workflow Process), PMO (preventive Maintenance Optimization) and PdM (Predictive Maintenance). Organizes and performs proactive service, repairs, troubleshooting and overhauls to production related equipment and processing systems in a manner that ensures Safety, Reliability, and Housekeeping standards are met.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Executes complex repairs and major overhauls to system components, and associated equipment, utilizing original equipment manufacturers recommendations and specifications
  • Performs the required maintenance to ensure the facility and equipment are operating correctly.
  • Provides mechanical and technical guidance and expertise to level 1 technicians to continually improve the education, experience and skill set within the department (teach/coach/mentor).
  • Conducts Predictive Maintenance inspections using predictive technologies like Vibration analysis, ultrasonic, oil analysis, Thermography.
  • Performs all maintenance activities in a safe, clean and efficient manner.
  • Replace and repair parts, rebuild equipment, align gears, shafts, pulleys and belts.
  • Utilizes illustrated parts breakdown manuals and operational manuals in the repair, modification and maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs inventory control of parts and equipment used from inventory.
  • Responds to all assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance (PM) activities in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan. 
  • Records activities in the CMMS

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education certification.
  • Basic Computer skills
  • CMRT (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician) highly preferred
  • Vibration ISO level 1 preferred
  • UE (Ultrasonic) Level 1 preferred
  • MLT1 (Machinery Lubrication Technician 1) preferred
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language.
  • Mechanical or electrical experience
    • Required: 2 – 5 year related experience
  • Prior electro-mechanical experience a plus
  • Proficient in performing equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Able to diagnose equipment faults and malfunctions.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA regulations.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a proactive “self starterâ€
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude.
  • Lean 5S and/or other Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Dependability and ability to adapt to change are essential. 
  • Ability to operate powered lift equipment (forklift, wave picker, hoists, etc.).
  • Requires forklift certification or ability to become forklift certified.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Direction is given by Maintenance Supervisor. Will interface with maintenance team members, production workers and administrative staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment or distribution center environment. Seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical imitation, and capacity to stand for long periods of time (at least 4 hours at a time) and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.  Have normal eye/hand motor coordination and the ability to grasp and hold small objects. Possess a normal extended reach. Consistently uses manual dexterity. Have the ability to determine color acuity. Must be able to transport, lift, and demonstrate materials, product and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Overview

To analyze electrical problems, correct, repair and overhaul electrical equipment and control to insure the efficient operation of all electrical equipment throughout the plant facility. This candidate must provide strong job knowledge and skills.

Essential Job Functions

    • Perform daily preventative maintenance of all electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, solenoid valves, lighting, power distribution, running conduit, replacing conduit and fittings of all types.
    • Provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
    • The capability to troubleshooting malfunctions.
    • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system, determine the replacement needs or new material required and plans working procedures.
    • Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate service or replace electronic devices and systems.
    • Insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
    • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit; pulls wiring through conduit; splices wires and connects wiring.
    • Install switches, relays and circuit breaker panels
    • Able to use various electrical instruments including amp meters, multi-meters, megometers, voltage testers, etc.
    • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
    • Informs supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment.

 

  • Maintains the workload and schedule for the facility daily to adjust for changes in work requirements.
  • Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

What you'll do

As a Power Equipment Operator at Walmart Supply Chain, you will be operating power equipment to move product through the Distribution network to the Stores to service our Customers. Your role is critical to providing our customers with the product they expect at an everyday low price.

  • Operates tractor/trailer in a safe and correct manner.
