Description -

The System Engineer supports the Hardware Infrastructure/Beam Generation/Beam Shaping/patient Positioning  System Engineer(s) who own the definition, decomposition, performance, interfaces, compliance  and risk analysis of their sub-domain through the entire product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life.

The System Engineer may act as a product owner of a scaled agile team that delivers value to customers through enhancement within the hardware infrastructure/beam generation/beam shaping/patient positioning elements of the product.

The System Engineer is a member of the virtual team of system engineers led by the MR Linac Solution System Engineer.

Responsibilities -

Responsible for providing support to the system engineers that own domains, including:

  • Defining quality criteria
  • System decomposition
  • Risk analysis
  • Creation and approval of technical requirements and non-functional requirements based on product requirements
  • Lifecycle activities of SOUP contained within their product area.
  • Generation of system engineering deliverables
  • Collaborate with product managers, solution system engineers and domain system engineers to develop product and technical roadmaps
  • Work with system integration colleagues to develop and realise integration plans
  • Facilitate or participate in change control boards
  • Define and accept work elements (epics, features) to realise product roadmaps
  • When required, perform role of product owner to plan and realise work items

Other:

  • The system engineer may also be responsible for engineering deliverables within their core skill domain, e.g., software, hardware, reliability engineering
  • Continuous improvement

  • Ensure compliance with Elekta’s Code of Conduct

Authorities -

Once sufficient knowledge has been gained within hardware infrastructure:

  • Approval of system engineering artefacts
  • Acceptance of work elements
  • Closure/acceptance of defects

Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies -

  • First or master’s degree in an engineering, physics or applicable technical/scientific discipline
  • Experience in product development from concept to manufacture
  • Experience of working in a system engineering or engineering leading role with complex multi-domain products
  • Ability to apply system thinking to product ownership throughout the lifecycle
  • Experienced in the application of system engineering practices
  • Medical sector specific knowledge is desirable, including ISO 13485, IEC 60601
  • Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking and problem solving with the ability to implement through others.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).  Ability to speak and present publicly
  • Flexible style (“do whatever it takes” approach)
  • Strong in building and maintaining successful and effective working relationships with other system engineering colleagues
  • Personality based on strong ethical standard, values and good judgement

What will I be responsible for?
Joining our team as a RF Calibration Engineer, you be responsible for all aspects of RF calibration, measuring instrumentation to national standards in a UKAS -17025 accredited Laboratory to ensure a first class service.
You will also undertake RF calibration measurements to the correct procedures, instructions and specifications. Maintain relevant records of work, data and results in a traceable and auditable manner utilising the relevant business management system. Your key responsibilities will also include:
  • Calibration of RF Measuring equipment.
  • Conversant with VSWR, VRC, Attenuation, Generation and measurement of RF up to 110 GHz.
  • Maintain the Calibration Database and filing system.
  • Maintenance of Calibration Certification and files.
  • Assist with on the job training when required.
  • Assist in the development and Improvement of Inspection and Calibration procedures.
  • Participate in Trescal Interlaboratory measurement audits.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service.
  • Perform other laboratory support functions as required in an efficient and orderly manner.
  • Participate in external/internal audits as required by the Trescal Quality Manager within the Trescal facility.
  • Ensure that mandatory and legislative QH&S/HS&E aspects of work are implemented at all times.
  • Endeavour to complete all work within the budgeted timescale and target dates and ensure proper control and accounting of work in progress is maintained and reported to your line manager.

Reporting to our hands-on Engineering Manager and working along-side another experienced Design Engineer, you'll predominately provide design support to the Engineering Manager on re-engineering existing technology, some new product design (analogue and digital electronics), product specification and software development.
Utilising your existing design experience, you'll have exposure to PCB design, analogue and digital electronics. You'll be able to generate drawings that will allow the external manufacturing of PCB's in China to our specification. You will also work on software development for the finished product once it has been built. This role will likely be more re-engineering existing products with only some NPD.
The role is predominantly office based near Alton, but you will occasionally be able to go to customer sites in the UK which makes your role a bit more varied.
Products you will be working on are electro-mechanical and a combination of battery powered, mains electric (LP) and renewables (solar, wind, hydro-powered). Some products have wireless capability utilising various communication protocols.

  • Member of the hotel emergency response team

What we need from you

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within a 5* environment, and will have a degree, certificate or equivalent experience related to maintenance and engineering 

Critical expertise & recent experience:

  • Experience and knowledgeable on Electrical and Mechanical systems
  • Good knowledge of Building Services, Air Handling Unit pumps, pipework lay out etc.
  • Experience in having responsibility for testing and record keeping for fire, life and safety systems, taking remedial action on any Plant, Gas and Air Ventilation equipment in line with legal requirements and safety standards.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Role: Field Service Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Location: Reading

As a Field Service engineers you will be responsible for;

  • The service and maintenance of diesel, LPG and electrical materials handling equipment
  • Fault finding, planned preventative maintenance and pre delivery inspection of forklift trucks
  • Ensuring customer service is kept to a high level and any queries are addressed
  • Adhering to safety guidelines set and all policies set out by customers and Briggs Equipment
  • Complete job activity electronically and ensure all required parts to complete tasks are ordered
  • Ensuring the company vehicle is maintained to a high standard and correctly stocked
  • Ensuring customer relationship are maintained and developed through high standards of service
  • Call out Rota as required

As a Field Service Engineer you will demonstrate;

  • Relevant technical qualification
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical principals
  • The ability to work independently and under pressure
  • The ability to manage and prioritise workload
  • Understanding customer needs

As a Field Service Engineer you will command;

  • A base salary from £29,700pa - £31,200pa based on a 40 hour working week
  • Overtime is payable at X 1.5 Monday – Saturday and x 2 at weekends
  • Vehicle is available for private use if desired (tax to be paid)

Description -

The System Engineer supports the Hardware Infrastructure/Beam Generation/Beam Shaping/patient Positioning  System Engineer(s) who own the definition, decomposition, performance, interfaces, compliance  and risk analysis of their sub-domain through the entire product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life.

The System Engineer may act as a product owner of a scaled agile team that delivers value to customers through enhancement within the hardware infrastructure/beam generation/beam shaping/patient positioning elements of the product.

The System Engineer is a member of the virtual team of system engineers led by the MR Linac Solution System Engineer.

Responsibilities -

Responsible for providing support to the system engineers that own domains, including:

  • Defining quality criteria
  • System decomposition
  • Risk analysis
  • Creation and approval of technical requirements and non-functional requirements based on product requirements
  • Lifecycle activities of SOUP contained within their product area.
  • Generation of system engineering deliverables
  • Collaborate with product managers, solution system engineers and domain system engineers to develop product and technical roadmaps
  • Work with system integration colleagues to develop and realise integration plans
  • Facilitate or participate in change control boards
  • Define and accept work elements (epics, features) to realise product roadmaps
  • When required, perform role of product owner to plan and realise work items

  • The system engineer may also be responsible for engineering deliverables within their core skill domain, e.g., software, hardware, reliability engineering

Authorities -

Once sufficient knowledge has been gained within hardware infrastructure:

  • Approval of system engineering artefacts

Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies -

  • First or master’s degree in an engineering, physics or applicable technical/scientific discipline
  • Experience in product development from concept to manufacture
  • Experience of working in a system engineering or engineering leading role with complex multi-domain products
  • Ability to apply system thinking to product ownership throughout the lifecycle
  • Experienced in the application of system engineering practices
  • Medical sector specific knowledge is desirable, including ISO 13485, IEC 60601
  • Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking and problem solving with the ability to implement through others.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).  Ability to speak and present publicly
  • Flexible style (“do whatever it takes” approach)
  • Strong in building and maintaining successful and effective working relationships with other system engineering colleagues
  • Personality based on strong ethical standard, values and good judgement
  • Availability for international travel as required
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, etc.
