  • 2+ years experience leading engineering teams

  • Strong Fundamental understanding of modern cloud architecture (virtualization, networking, container orchestration, databases, message queueing, etc.)

  • Experience creating deployment scripts (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

  • Strong hands-on experience of programming in at least two of the following: Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented language

  • Self-starter with a bias toward action

Nice to Haves

  • A system engineering or developer background with the ability to learn quickly and share your knowledge with the broader team.

  • A mindset of “automate everything”, with experience demonstrating this.

The DevOps Systems team is tasked with building a best-in-class infrastructure experience for Shipt’s engineers. When the infrastructure just works, Shipt engineers are empowered to “deliver the goods” as rapidly as the business requires.

We are looking for an exceptional engineering manager to lead and grow the team that is at the core of all engineering success at Shipt.
 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Own the implementation of Shipt's cloud infrastructure

  • Collect and analyze data to support optimal utilization of cloud resources

  • Embrace and champion Shipt’s company and engineering values

  • Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans and deliverables

  • Drive resolution of technology roadblocks

  • Set standards for invisible and frictionless infrastructure that empower engineers

  • Architect and develop the best technical design and approach

  • Ensure adherence to all development & security standards

Requirements 

  • 8+ years of engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud automation and scripting.

  • 2+ years experience with building highly available, scalable, fault tolerant infrastructure

  • 2+ years experience leading engineering teams

  • Strong Fundamental understanding of modern cloud architecture (virtualization, networking, container orchestration, databases, message queueing, etc.)

  • Experience creating deployment scripts (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

  • Strong hands-on experience of programming in at least two of the following: Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented language

  • Self-starter with a bias toward action

Nice to Haves

  • A system engineering or developer background with the ability to learn quickly and share your knowledge with the broader team.

  • A mindset of “automate everything”, with experience demonstrating this.
