Service and Commissioning Engineer (m/f)

Test bench systems for automotive development

Your tasks

  • On-site commissioning of different test benches
  • Conduct installation test until final customer acceptance
  • Fulfill customer’s maintenance contract
  • Maintenance of material
  • Introduction of new devices and technologies as well as functional adaptations
  • Direct support of our customer in the test field with questions and development of solutions
  • Ensure test bench safety in hardware and software through regular testing and adaptation
  • Regular reporting towards both, customer and internal management

Your profile

  • Successfully completed master degree in a technical discipline such as electrical or mechanical engineering, mechatronics or engineering physics
  • Good knowledge of process measuring and control technology and the use of measurement and automation tools
  • Good understanding of complex systems such as test stands and interest in e-mobility or electric drive systems
  • English business fluent level is mandatory; knowledge of French is desirable, German is a plus
  • Ability to present complex technical facts comprehensibly
  • Willingness to go on regular business trips mainly in Spain, to our French customers and our headquarter next to Munich (mainly for training purposes)
  • Working carefully, capacity to learn and a good team player

This role will report to the Regional Service Manager and is covering the South of England.

Salary £28,000 - £32,000 plus overtime and benefits.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Undertakes servicing of equipment at our customer sites.
  • Completes to a high-quality standard all service, repair, warranty, and inspection jobs allocated daily.
  • Builds strong rapport and relationships with customers through professional behaviour and customer focused mindset.
  • Responds to routine enquiries from customers about the technical aspects of the organization’s products and services.
  • Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve standard technical problems that arise, ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Carry out extensive electrical and mechanical fault find work.

What you will need to succeed:

As our Field Service Engineer you should have a customer focused approach as you will be the face of the brand and be a strong problem solver. You should possess strong communication skills, verbally and written, quality orientated, flexible, and adaptable, as well as enthusiastic and self-driven.
Ideally you have: 

  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering qualifications
  • Experience of heavy plant equipment
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems.
  • PLC knowledge or experience 
  • Fault finding and diagnostics experience.

As a Field Service engineers you will be responsible for;

  • The service and maintenance of diesel, LPG and electrical materials handling equipment

The Bicester site operates on a 24/7 basis, and with the company priding itself on the high-quality service it provides to its' customers across the country, it is essential that they now recruit a similarly committed and highly professional maintenance team member to ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards and the systems meet the required demands.
Working on an average 38 hr week on a 5 week rotating shift basis (Week 1 - Mon to Thu 6am to 4pm), (Week 2 - Sat and Sun 6am to 6pm then Tue to Fri 6am to 4pm) Week 3 off, (Week 4 - Sun 6pm to 6am then Mon to Fri - 10pm to 6am) and Week 5 - Mon to Thu 2pm to 10pm and Fri 2pm to 8pm) - due to the way the shift pattern falls and the annualized hours scheme, the position effectively offers 53 days off per annum.
Core responsibilities for this multi skilled shift maintenance engineer position will include:
  • Conducting reactive and PPM maintenance on automated cranes and conveyor systems
  • Facilities maintenance activities on both site buildings and associated equipment
  • Monitoring the operation and ensuring stoppages are dealt with promptly
  • Assisting the site manager with any safety issues which may arise
  • Using the computerised system to monitor site activity
  • Advising customers of any stock related issues
  • Promoting any enhancements or additions required via correct channels
  • Provide cover alongside other team members for holidays and sickness

This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated maintenance engineer to join a team responsible for the ongoing efficiency of 10 fully automated cranes and conveyor systems that handle more than 50,000 pallets per month.
