The Private Client Group

Kate Ryan and Jolene Hutchison are Partners in the Team both undertaking mainly Divorce and Finance work. Vicky Preece, Consultant heads the Children Team and Salima Mawji, Consultant heads the Education Law team.

The wider Private Client group is recognised as a regional heavyweight and includes a specialist Estate Planning team, and a specialist High Net Worth Residential Property team both headed by partners.

The primary purpose of the role is to pro-actively support, liaise, and work with the fee earners in the Family team on their individual cases.

This role will also support the other legal administrators in the team on all administrative matters undertaking a number of key routines, non-routine and project related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Legal and related tasks as required including:

  1. Checking lengthy documentation and proofreading as required
  2. Completing legal forms such as Form E, Land Registry Forms etc.
  3. Drafting statements, letters, Court bundles, briefs to Counsel and Court applications
  4. Talking with client’s and taking instructions where appropriate and recording these instructions effectively.
  5. Managing the file on the system
  6. Meeting time-recording and billing targets
  7. Attending Court with Counsel
  8. Attending client meetings with the fee earner to take notes and manage any follow up work required
  9. Booking conferences with chambers and meetings with clients

We are now looking for an additional paralegal to support the Corporate Legal Services team in our Reading office. You will have previous paralegal experience in the area of corporate law.
The role is very varied with no two days the same. You will be required to manage your time well and be able to balance several pieces of work simultaneously, prioritising appropriately to ensure tight deadlines are met. The following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and activities:
• running know your client (KYC) checks;
• drafting engagement letters;
• carrying out company searches and summarising key information in company search reports;

Our Private Client Group 

High net worth private clients form a significant part of the client base for IBB’s private practice. Services including wills, probate, tax, trusts, estate planning and property advice for individuals. Work is also undertaken for institutional clients. Job Purpose
