The Cardiff Health Access Practice (CHAP) based at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, is a specialist service managed by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board providing access to essential services for vulnerable groups including Asylum Seekers, Safe Haven Patients and the Homeless.

The service provides patients with initial health screening and signposting, access to immediate and necessary healthcare, maternity and child health services. The service works at the interface with GP practices, the third sector as well as Home Office Services.

Having gone through an exciting period of development over the past year, which has resulted in investment and service redesign, we are now looking to appoint to the role of Departmental Operations Manager. This post is central to the management of the department and will work in collaboration with the Clinical Director and Senior Nurse Lead for CHAP in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of care to individuals with very complex needs.

The post holder will fulfill a central role within the department, being responsible for the management of the administrative team and all operational aspects of the service. This will include first line management of clinic capacity, IT and administrative systems and processes, medical records and staff.

The post holder will need to work at pace, enjoy the challenge associated with managing complexity, and enjoy the opportunities associated with working as part of a large specialist multi-disciplinary team. Key skills and experience required includes resilience, ability to problem solve, ability to communicate effectively with staff of all grades, and a proven track record in terms of effective departmental management. A knowledge of GP practices and systems is useful but not essential to the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Care Assistant Principal Responsibilities:

  • Dressing service users and preparing them for the day
  • Shopping
  • Assisting with washing and personal care
  • Meal Preparation
  • Medication support
  • General household duties
  • Auditing & Updating Client files
  • Lead Shadowing new potential Care Assistants
  • On call (rotas basis)

You will be assisting our service user's with their daily needs as agreed within each person’s care plan. The manner of care and support you would provide can vary person to person.

  • At least 2 years previous care experience.

  • Driving License and access to your own vehicle
  • Level 2 or 3 Health and Social Care
