Requirements

Requirements for the Garage Door Apprentice:

  • Great Attitude
  • Mechanical aptitude, including skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, accurately reading a tape measure, and interpreting equipment manuals
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and high-quality standards
  • Ability to learn a new software and be comfortable working on a tablet
  • Physically able to move items weighing 80-150 lbs. and the ability to bend, climb, reach, kneel, etc. for extended periods
  • Able to attend 4-6 weeks of training at our headquarters in Phoenix Arizona

Duties and Responsibilities for the Garage Door Apprentice:

  • Report to training manager daily for tasks
  • Report to Senior Technician for field training
  • Learn the A1 procedures and policies
  • Familiarize yourself with A1 software and tech.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Learn to inspect job sites both pre and post install


Compensation & Training:

A1's paid Apprenticeship Training Program consists of a combination of field training in your local market and technical training at our corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. There are several different phases of training, and the entire training process typically takes about 6 months until apprentices are fully able to perform all aspects of their job with little to supervision.

You will train in your local market for up to 8 weeks. If you graduate into Technical Training, you will then train at our corporate office for 6 weeks. Upon return to your local market, you will then be placed into our virtual field supervisor program for approximately 3 months where you will call into and talk with highly experienced technicians multiple times on each job as you continue to learn and enhance your skills.

Travel and accommodations are provided while in Phoenix for Technical Training.

Upon completion of the program, you will graduate to an Installer or a Sales and Service Technician.

Based on the extensive training we provide; Junior Technicians and Installers can expect to earn between $60 and $85k their first full year.

Career growth and mobility opportunities are available after successfully meeting the objectives of Junior Tech/Installer. Training pay is disclosed when you have been invited to interview for acceptance into the program.

  • Prepare and oversee preparation of the construction documents. (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates).

  • Write reports and technical memos.

  • Manage, advise, coach and develop junior engineers.
  • Will travel to project sites. Approximately 5% overnight travel.

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • PE in Kansas or the ability to obtain the PE within six months of hire.
  • 10+ years as a Bridge Engineer/Project Manager.
  • Self-starter with strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Detail oriented, proactive individual who takes ownership of their work.
  • Proficiency in following software:
    • Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
    • Inroads and Micro station. Civil3D a plus
  • Existing relationships with KDOT, Federal Lands, and Kansas Project Managers preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationship and win work
  • Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients.
  • Availability to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% overnight.

What you will do

The Electrical Engineering Intern position is a member of the Residential Controls Team that is part of the Ducted Systems Group for Johnson Controls that ensures our products meet not only the regulatory requirements, but also our customer’s requirements and expectations.  The position will be located in Wichita, KS.  The preferred candidate will have aspirations to apply / develop electrical acumen in an environment where both educational understanding and real-life practicality are important to design, testing, and development of systems, controls, and technology. The preferred candidate will be computer literate and able to use a variety of different software tools to succeed at this position.  The preferred candidate will have some mechanical aptitude to be able to design, create, and execute building test fixtures to test systems and controls.

How you will do it

  • Develop advanced systems & controls: products, parts, specifications, circuits, etc. in a timely and effective manner to ensure quality, customers, and cost objectives are met.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data and designs circuits or components.
  • Performs accurate analysis of product performance and functionality, making appropriate recommendations as needed to improve product quality, performance, cost and reliability.
  • Participates as a member of a project team to ensure projects are completed according to the product development process.  This includes supporting the completion of assigned engineering requirements such as Design Review, Specifications, DFMEAs, Test Plans, Test Procedures, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Late sophomore or early junior year in pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (from an ABET accredited university) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including e-mail and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Proven flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and environments
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.  Each period of work should be in 4-hour minimum increments
  • US Citizen or legal right to work in the US.

 Preferred

  • HVAC system knowledge
  • Experience on embedded HVAC controls

Requirements

Requirements for the Garage Door Apprentice:

  • Great Attitude
  • Mechanical aptitude, including skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, accurately reading a tape measure, and interpreting equipment manuals
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and high-quality standards
  • Ability to learn a new software and be comfortable working on a tablet
  • Physically able to move items weighing 80-150 lbs. and the ability to bend, climb, reach, kneel, etc. for extended periods
  • Able to attend 4-6 weeks of training at our headquarters in Phoenix Arizona

Duties and Responsibilities for the Garage Door Apprentice:

  • Report to training manager daily for tasks
  • Report to Senior Technician for field training
  • Learn the A1 procedures and policies
  • Familiarize yourself with A1 software and tech.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Learn to inspect job sites both pre and post install


Compensation & Training:

A1's paid Apprenticeship Training Program consists of a combination of field training in your local market and technical training at our corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. There are several different phases of training, and the entire training process typically takes about 6 months until apprentices are fully able to perform all aspects of their job with little to supervision.

You will train in your local market for up to 8 weeks. If you graduate into Technical Training, you will then train at our corporate office for 6 weeks. Upon return to your local market, you will then be placed into our virtual field supervisor program for approximately 3 months where you will call into and talk with highly experienced technicians multiple times on each job as you continue to learn and enhance your skills.

Travel and accommodations are provided while in Phoenix for Technical Training.

Upon completion of the program, you will graduate to an Installer or a Sales and Service Technician.

Based on the extensive training we provide; Junior Technicians and Installers can expect to earn between $60 and $85k their first full year.

Career growth and mobility opportunities are available after successfully meeting the objectives of Junior Tech/Installer. Training pay is disclosed when you have been invited to interview for acceptance into the program.
