We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic NMC registered Nurse who has Practice Nurse experience in general practice to join our clinical team of three part time Practice Nurses, one Assistant Practitioner, one Health Care Assistant, three GP Partners and two Nurse Practitioners.
30 hpw (minimum)
The role includes but is not limited to chronic disease management, immunisation and vaccination, cervical screening, child immunisations, travel health.
Experience in the Quality and Outcomes framework and Bolton Quality Contract would be an advantage. Good IT skills are essential.

Main Duties: 1) Providing assessment, screening and treatment services which are relevant to patients and their families, with emphasis on improving diet and exercise routines through health promotion clinics. Referral to GP and other agencies as practice policy dictates.
2) Developing and organising, with others, nurse-led clinics for the chronic disease management programmes within the practice, specifically:
Coronary heart disease, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Asthma, Diabetes, Heart failure, Thyroid reviews, Hypertension, Stroke/TIA
3) Responsible, with others, for the development, organisation and running of routine clinics specifically:
Immunisations, Pain management, HRT counselling, Travel health and vaccination programmes, Cervical screeening
4) Develop, organise and run the Practice immunisation programme.
5) Initiation and titration of insulin.
6) Administering depo-provera injections and implants such as zoladex.
7) Assess risk factors leading to ill health and advise and assist in suitable interventions.
8) Reversibility testing using a spirometer to confirm diagnosis of asthma and COPD.
9) Perform various clinical procedures such as ECG recordings, venepuncture, cervical smears, routine blood pressure monitoring, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, ear syringing, spirometry and peak flow recording.
10) Devise self management plans for asthmatic patients.
Administrative
1) Develop practice protocols and guidelines in conjunction with GPs.
2) Devise and implement induction programmes for clinical staff.
3) Active in teaching, training and monitoring of clinical staff.
4) Provide clinical advice and mentoring to less experienced clinical staff.
5) Liaise with Practice Manager/GPs advising on the appropriate use of time , appointments systems and resource development.
6) Manage the Practices medical equipment maintenance programme and ensure that all equipment is functional, safe to use and that adequate stock of consumables are maintained.
7) Maintenance of patient records.

Knowledge, Training and Experience Required
1) Possesses a Registered Nurse qualification and have at last two years post registration experience.
2) Hold the Specialist Practice Nurse Certificate and/or Diploma in Practice

7) Competency in IT skills to basic ECDL standard

3) Competency in electrocardiograph recording, venepuncture, cervical smears, routing blood pressure monitoring, intramuscular subcutaneous injections, ear syringing, spirometry technique and peak flow recording, electronic data input.
