Role Summary:

The Nursing Assistant post will include the day to support and care for the patients, involvement in providing basic nursing care, both mental and physical for the patient group. They will with supervision participate in the recovery and recreational activities of the patients. They will be responsible for the day-to-day health and safety checks within their ward area.

To assist in the development of therapeutic evidence based culture ensuring that the highest possible standards of nursing care are carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the unit and trust.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

  • The Nursing Assistant will work at all times to compliment qualified staffs endeavours to follow the NMC Code of Practice
  • To assist individual patients and multi-disciplinary team members in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

To assist in engaging patients in 1:1 or group activities alongside Nursing and Occupational Therapy colleagues.

To maintain accurate written records of nursing interventions.

Engage in Physical Intervention Training for the management of violence and aggression and utilise the approved techniques in the clinical area.

Work in an often stressful environment, which is unpredictable with many demands on attention where patients display challenging behaviour and at times can be verbally or physically hostile.

The service is dedicated to supporting those with emotional regulation difficulties and complex needs, including trauma. You will join a friendly and dynamic team with shared values and passion about working with this services user group.

The Team offers a Structured Clinical Management approach and aims to empower this service user group by reducing stigma and enhancing their skills to manage daily life. As the Nursing Associate in the team you will enable service users to overcome barriers to accessing treatment and will also support in the delivery of the workshops with one of the practitioners. You will also undertake physical health monitoring as required.

You will join a team which consists of Nurses, Social workers and a Psychological Therapist, you will be enthusiastic and continue to help us to develop. The Team operates Monday to Friday 09.00-17.00 with the opportunity to work flexibly depending on service need. You have the opportunity to continue to develop your knowledge and skills and will afford training opportunities depending on your area of interest.

At Shelton Care we provide person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities, autism and those that display challenging behaviours.

Our Cauldon Place and Regent House services are made up of both shared and single occupancy flats and can be found situated across the road from each other in the heart of Stoke-in-Trent. Our services are home to adults with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and complex needs. The staff and people we support are valued members of the local community and access all local facilities. Days are spent supporting people to learn new skills or to find motivation to regain lost skills. This may be shopping, cooking, budgeting and other daily living skills. Our staff also support to attend to community responsibilities, such as medical appointments, attending college or voluntary positions or maybe just popping to town for window shopping and a cuppa. When not out and about staff are on hand for chats and advice to help when times become challenging.

Shifts vary over a 7 day rota that will include earlies, lates, long days and some weekends. 

Driver not essential, on-site car parking.

Cauldon Place opened in 2000 and is situated in the heart of Stoke-on- Trent, we support individuals with Learning disabilities, Autism, behaviours that challenge and complex needs.

Our home supports 25 individuals in 11 flats, this comprises of shared flats and single occupancy, all are individually personalised and well- equipped to meet individual needs and preferences of the people we support.

Support Workers provide a vital part in providing the people we support with the care and ability to improve their quality of life.

Your role as a Support Worker will include:
- Providing 1-1 and group support sessions
- Creating engaging and creative ways to interact with the people you support
- Help with accessing the community and taking the people you support to their appointments.
- Set person-centred goals and agreeing on how to reach them
- Help with personal care when required
- Support the running of the home including the cooking and cleaning.

What is the purpose of the position?

  • Omnes Healthcare are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Healthcare Assistant who is able to assist the clinical team in the delivery of the ENT (ear, nose and throat) and service.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • The post holder will work under indirect supervision of the clinical team and undertakes task and duties delegated by the clinical team or a suitably qualified regulated professional.
