Ashleigh C of E Primary School in Barnstaple is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic, skilled, and flexible to join our dedicated and positive team. We are part of Ventrus Multi-Academy Trust, a family of fifteen schools. The role will be to support the learning of children with Special Educational Needs and will include midday/lunchtime supervision. We are an inclusive school committed to nurturing all children’s academic, social and emotional needs; we strive to improve the lives of every child to ensure barriers are removed and all children achieve their potential.

Our mission statement of ‘Learning to Love; Loving to Learn – Life in all its Fullness’ captures our desire to ensure that our children leave Ashleigh as well-rounded individuals, ready to fulfil their potential in later life. As a Church of England school we are driven by our values of respect, hope, compassion, aspiration, forgiveness and service. We work tirelessly as a community to uphold these. Ashleigh is centrally placed within the town of Barnstaple but also within easy reach of the North Devon link road.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a patient, calm and encouraging approach. Ideally you would have previous experience of supporting children with additional needs, particularly ASD, in an educational setting. You will need excellent communication skills and knowledge of delivering specific educational and social/emotional interventions would be an advantage. This is an exciting time to join us and make a real difference to children’s lives, especially given the many challenges children have faced over the past 12 months.

By building positive relationships with children, staff and parents you can make a valuable contribution to ensuring our children achieve all that they can. If you would like to find out more, we would be happy to talk to you about Ashleigh and the role. All applicants require a minimum of GSCE C grade in both maths and English for this post.

To apply for this role please submit your application online; your supporting statement should outline your suitability for the post.

This is a one year fixed-term position, to commence after Easter working 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Closing date for this position is noon on Monday 15th March. Interviews for shortlisted applicants will be held on Friday 19th March.

*Please note that at present the Trust is considering a range of potential start dates for the appointment to this post. The start date could be at any time from 22nd March 2021 to 19th April 2021, and accordingly if there are any restrictions that mean that you would not be able to comply with a start date within the range referred to above, you are asked to include such information within your application. Please note that your not being able to commence work during the entire range of dates available will not adversely impact on your application being considered at this stage, but may have an adverse impact in your being offered the position if by that time the Trust is not in a position to confirm the precise start date.
