DIRECTOR, COLLEGE & CAREER PATHWAYS (PROFESSIONAL STAFF)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Missouri certification in teaching
  • Background experience with CTE teaching and programming
  • Experience in teaching, coordinating, and improving career and college programming.
  • Experience, success, and a passion for engaging the business community
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships with the school and business community
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
  • Secondary administration degree preferred

REPORTS TO:                                                                     Executive Director, Academic Services (7-12)

 

 

JOB GOAL:                                                                          To support the district in developing, implementing, and maintaining a high quality career pathway program and providing student supports for enrollment and success in postsecondary education. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate regularly with site administrators to determine the needs of staff for the implementation of college and career pathways.
  • Plan and present workshops for staff on the integration of academic and technical curriculum.
  • Complete certification and evaluation of programs as required by supporting agencies such as NAF, Linked Learning, PLTW, and Dual Credit.  
  • Develop and present assessment data linking pathways and student achievement
  • Support the implementation and coordination of the district adopted work based learning continuum
  • Develop and monitor a system that tracks student exposure to work based learning and graduates earning one or more market value assets
  • Arrange and coordinate district site visits to promote the sharing of our pathways model
  • Develop collaborative relationships with local colleges, industry, and local business
  • Support the effective implementation of pathway advisory boards
  • Engage local colleges and industry in proposals, grant writing, and planning for pathway development
  • Develop, submit, and oversee competitive grants to support the development of pathways, including Perkins funds
  • Monitor master scheduling to ensure equitable access to career pathway completion for all students.
  • Participate on and support the District pathway leadership team
  • Collaborate with counselors to ensure all students have a clear understanding of the career pathways, aligned course offerings, completion requirements, and postsecondary plans
  • Support and collaborate with the counselors on the implementation of a comprehensive college and career district adopted continuum
  • Lead the implementation and use of career pathway student interest tools such as Missouri Connections
  • Recruit and work collaboratively with community agencies and the business community to develop programs that support and increase student internships, mentoring, job shadowing, and client based projects.
  • Attend civic organization meetings such as the Gladstone Chamber, Northland Chamber, Northland Education Business Alliance and the North Kansas City Business Council.
  • Assists with the administration of college and career readiness programs including assistance in preparation of annual reports and articulation with postsecondary.
  • Support off campus programs and identify areas of opportunities of growth within college and career pathways
  • Collect, analyze, and prepare relevant student achievement data (IRC’s, college credits earned, etc..) related to each pathway to inform improvement efforts, including post-graduate placement data.
  • Complies with good safety practices.
  • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Participates as an observer in evaluation process.
  • Other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:                                                     The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                                           Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board Of Education.  Benefits according to Board policies. This is a grant funded position and will be re-evaluated annually.
