PACKING/ PRODUCTION OPERATIVES WANTED
GI Group Scarborough have exciting opportunities for experienced PACKING/ PRODUCTION OPERATIVES to join our reputable client based in the Malton area.
We are looking for passionate candidates who enjoy working as part of a busy team to join our client's workplace in the Packing department.
HOURS: Monday to Friday 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm
PAY RATES: £8.72-£10.17- overtime available after 39 hours
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* To ensure that all product is packed to meet customer/company specifications, whilst also minimising waste.
* To ensure all tasks performed are as per training given and safe working procedures
* To work to agreed training plan, bringing any skill shortfalls/difficulties to the attention of the Packing Supervisor.
* Ensure understanding of expected standards and targets before commencing any task.
* To carry out all assigned tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly with regard to H&S and Food Safety.
* Any other duties as required
KEY REQUIREMENTS

Production Operative / Packing Operative
We are looking for hardworking reliable people to join our client in the Malton area. This position is temporary on going however could lead to a permanent position within the business for the right candidate.
Working within a team environment on a busy production line to fulfil orders of speciality cheese for major retailers. You will be responsible for contributing to the production plan through efficient resolution, utilisation and operation of equipment, maximising quality, productivity and material.
HOURS: Monday to Saturday 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am and every other Sunday
PAY RATES: 1-12 weeks: * £ 8.72 per hour
* £ 13.08 overtime Monday to Saturday after 40 hrs
* £ 17.44 - Overtime done on Sundays after 40 hrs
PAY RATES: 13 + weeks: * £ 9.07 / £ 9.11 per hour for am and pm shifts depending of departments
* £ 13.61 overtime Monday to Saturday after 40 hrs
* £ 18.14 - Overtime done on Sundays after 40 hrs
* £ 10.02 per hour for night shift

The successful candidate needs to be able to operate within a challenging but rewarding factory environment that is physically demanding and can entail repetitive tasks.
Ideally, experience within a similar production role, however, full on the job training will be provided. You need to have a can do attitude, be willing to work, with good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
Due to some days with early starts and the location own means of transport will be required rather than reliance on public transport.

PACKING OPERATIVE / FLT Driver Immediate start
Gi Group Scarborough is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing company in York area who are seeking a Packing Operative with a valid Forklift Truck Licence to join our client's friendly, close-knit production team.
This is a job role which is defined as a key worker position playing a vital role within the UK at this present time.
HOURS: 39 hours / week, days only and every other weekend
SALARY: £10.15 per hour + overtime-available (time and a half over 39 hrs)
This role involves:
* being accountable for product integrity
* routine cleaning of equipment and your work area
* performing regular product quality and process verification checks
* entering production, process and quality data on the computer system
* performing basic maintenance tasks, reporting faults to engineering etc
* being actively involved in problem solving/continuous improvement activities
We are looking for someone who:
* has food processing rather than packaging experience
* is used to working to recipes
* has worked on different pieces of kit/machinery to produce a variety of products
* has the necessary IT, numeracy and literacy skills for a modern processing environment
* can understand how things work, problem solve, improve performance etc
* collaborates and communicates with colleagues to achieve goals
* adapts quickly
You would be working an average 40-hour week, days only and every other weekend. The shift pattern is: Week 1 - work Monday to Thursday, have Friday off, work Saturday and Sunday; Week 2 - have Monday off, work Tuesday to Friday, have Saturday and Sunday off. You may have to stay longer some days if there's been a delay, as they produce to order each day, but this will be paid at overtime.
The successful candidate needs to be able to operate within a challenging but rewarding factory environment that is physically demanding and can entail repetitive tasks.
Ideally, experience within a similar production role, however, full on the job training will be provided. You need to have a can do attitude, be willing to work, with good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • 25 years of age + = £8.72 - 9.55 per hour + shift allowance
  • Variety of shift patterns available:
  • Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-3pm, Saturday and Sunday 6am-6pm

Full training of how to trim and cut the ribs will be given, but Candidates with previous knife skills are highly desirable.


A good understanding of English and maths is required. Completing required documentation accurately, and with attention to detail is essential.

The role involves learning all aspects of retort operation. All ready meals are pasteurised or sterilised in the retorts to give them extended shelf life.

There are pre-set programmes to cope with the different pack sizes and different product heating characteristics.

Standard procedures must be followed to ensure that the function operates efficiently and accurately as this is critical to food safety.


Retort Operators are required to work systematically and work to the documented standards to ensure all aspects of food safety and health and safety compliance.


Key Elements:


      Loading ready meals racks onto the retort racks

      Programming retorts

      Completing all required documentation to a high standard

      Maximising retort capacity 

      Following company procedures in relation to operation and Health and Safety

      Working as part of a small team

Desirable Criteria:
