Interstates is growing and is seeking a Lead Software Developer to join our Software Development Team. The Lead Software Developer will be responsible for leading the team in applying design patterns and principles to new and existing code, owning the estimating and execution of software scope of projects, and providing coaching and training to other developers. • Plan and design significant portions of an application
• Choose appropriate design patterns and architectures based on scope and client needs
• Apply SOLID and clean-coding principles to new and existing code
• Manage projects while leading a team of developers
• Review and provide feedback on team members’ code
• Lead by example, writing high-quality code and coaching others on coding practices
• Oversee installation and start-up of a software application on customers’ sites
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• 2- or 4-year degree in computer science, software development, or related technical field
• 5+ years’ experience in software development
• Proven experience managing projects and leading small or medium-sized development teams
• Proven experience applying SOLID and clean-coding principles to new and existing code
• Knowledge and experience with the Microsoft stack and related technologies:
  • C#
  • .NET, .NET Core
  • Data persistence and transmission technologies: SQL databases, XML, JSON

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and relationship-building skills
• Experience in the following (or closely related) web technologies a plus:
  • Client scripting like Javascript and Typescript
  • Front-end libraries like React, Angular, or Vue
  • Realtime, two-way communication libraries: SignalR/WebSockets
  • CSS frameworks like Bootsrap/Bulma/Sass

Travel:   

This position is located in our Sioux Center, IA or Sioux Falls, SD offices. Travel may be required up to 25% or the time.

The PLC Programmer will be responsible for control systems programming and implementation for our manufacturing clientele. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers.

• Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller), and / or the HMIs (Human Machine Interface), and databases, requiring programming in several PC languages
• Work within project teams consisting of clients, electrical engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver integrated automation solutions
• Provide plant check-out, commissioning, and start-up services at customer sites
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• 2 or 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or a related technical field
• Or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge in designing and developing control systems
• Knowledge in HMI / SCADA programming, and PLC programming

The Programming Intern will be responsible for control systems design, programming, and implementation for our manufacturing clientele. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers.

• Control System Programming - PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and/or the HMI (Human Machine Interface), and databases, and thus could require programming in several PC languages.
• Work within project teams consisting of clients, electrical engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver integrated automation solutions.
• Troubleshooting control system issues, helping support existing client applications, general client communication.
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• Working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field
• Knowledge of and interest in manufacturing & mechanical systems

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Experience working with PLC's and/or HMI's.
