Requirements of the RN / Registered Nurse
• Current RN license and registration
• CPR certification

Responsibilities of the RN / Registered Nurse
• Record a patient’s medical history accurately
• Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.
• Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
• Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts
• Assist ailing patients in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing etc.
• Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic
medical care tasks
• Collect samples for lab testing as assigned
• Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
• Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort and release instructions

A Registered Nurse renders professional nursing care to patients, within an assigned unit or authorized community health center site, in support of medical care as directed by the medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Hudson River Community Health. In addition, this position will perform duties assigned on as needed basis.
Essential duties and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse:
• Interviews patients for health history, including history of current complaint, and past and present use of medication utilizing patient identifies; document patient charts (must be time stamped and/or initialed) • Maintains patient’s medical record and charts the following: nursing observation; vital signs; reactions to test, i.e., PPD results, in-house testing, and other pertinent information • Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examinations of patients.
• Initiates follow-up, as necessary. Instruct patients on healthcare issues, as indicated by physician, diagnosis and/or inquiries by patient.
• Assesses and triages patients as they present, either by telephone or in person. • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide appropriate care.
• Attends mandated training and keeps up to date on all nursing procedures including relevant procedures.
