General Summary

The Formwork Engineer prepares formwork layout drawings addressing the technical aspects of formwork layout, forming materials, system selection, and proper implementation. This position is also responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and managing onsite construction engineering activities for construction projects in excess of $50 million to ensure quality and cost effectiveness.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Actively involved with Project Superintendents, foremen, and craft to ensure they have the proper drawings and materials to construct the formwork.
  2. Reviews, approves, and submits formwork shop drawings when required
  3. Coordinates deliveries, inventories, shortages, and assembly for all formwork assigned.
  4. Supervise, direct, and mentor project staff to ensure individual development and that project standards are met and work is completed on time and under budget.
  5. Tracks Quantities of Material received, forms installed, and forms stripped to support production staff with production rates and costs.
  6. Develop and maintain project schedule to ensure work is completed on time and under budget.
  7. Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and constructability reviews to ensure successful job completion.
  8. Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents to ensure clarification of roles.
  9. Represent company, project and/or department during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication.
  10. Develop and maintain all job reporting and logs to ensure project compliance.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off and Primavera Scheduling software.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc. plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.

Position Description:
This position is responsible for creating, developing, and bringing to production new products, as well as providing engineering solutions and design changes for standard products, and seeking solutions of problems for the product line. Applies expertise and initiative and available resources to ensure that product designs are proper for the application, well-conceived, adequately documented, and sufficiently tested to provide consistent, quality products to our customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop new electromechanical platforms and designs for products, and direct technical teams in the creation of documentation, tests, and production release.
Initiate and apply new engineering technologies and software for design; initiate and provide design support to other groups within engineering; review and validate the impact of suggested modifications to products.
Evaluate and recommend component parts, materials, and processes as related to improved product performance, quality and profitability; provide support for evaluation and selection of capital equipment that meets business requirements.
Apply basic engineering principles and analysis to the resolution of technical problems; perform development, design, and analysis of new products; provide design validation testing for all new products; interpret design results and data; make independent judgments as to their validity.
Support marketing and field sales colleagues by providing and coordinating requests for quotes, application, and design assistance and customer visits; provide customer or in-house training; provide technical data in support of division advertising or brochures.
Position Requirements:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.) required
7+ years of demonstrated design and development experience in electro-mechanical products. Motor experience highly preferred (ex. BLDC, encoders, gearboxes, commutation options, brakes, bearings, motor insulation systems, winding, etc.)
Demonstrated project management skills which include a drive for results, clear accountability, timely completion, and successful outcomes.
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D, Infolytica MagNet, MotorSolve BLDC, or similar modeling software desirable.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills required (verbal, written, electronic).
ADDITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Ability to travel domestically and internationally

The E1 Journeyman Building Engineer is responsible for managing and performing building systems maintenance and more complex tenant requests. The E1 accurately records and reports daily work duties in a clear, concise, and timely manner and must be available afterhours for emergencies and special assignments as needed.

The E1 has formal trade school training and certification plus significant experience in preventative maintenance and repair of building mechanical and non-mechanical systems. This individual is self-motivated, can work both independently and in a team environment.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join the Transportation-Infrastructure Practice in Oregon. 

 

The successful Senior Transportation Engineer must demonstrate the ability to perform diverse and complex work tasks requiring extensive engineering, communication, and management expertise. The successful candidate will also serve as a Project Manager taking a leadership role in design project plan production, construction contract administration and construction engineering & inspection (CA/CEI), and quality assurance/quality control procedures. This includes working with existing clients and identifying new clients to maintain a profitable operation and interactive working environment. The Senior Transportation Engineer will have a proven record of successful business development and marketing activities and be able to implement a business and growth plan for Oregon. The Senior Transportation Engineer will have the ability to learn internal RS&H processes for project management, financial budgeting/billing, business and contract transactions, negotiations with clients and human resource activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon required;
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the field of civil engineering/roadway/structures/hydraulics/traffic engineering studies;
  • Previous experience as Project Manager, leading multi-discipline teams;
  • Previous experience as a Resident Engineer/Project Manager administering construction contract administration and construction engineering & inspection (CA/CEI) work orders;
  • Knowledge of and project management experience working directly with ODOT or other local transportation providers; 
  • Experience working on complex transportation projects and administering contracts;
  • Knowledge of ODOT and other transportation agency processes and procurement methods; and
  • Strong supervisory skills leading multiple teams and people; and established client relationships/marketing and business development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in civil engineering degree, or other professionally recognized equivalent engineering discipline;
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State preferred, but not required;
  • Experience leading diverse transportation projects using Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and Alternative Project Delivery methods;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management;
  • Conscientious of project schedules and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines);  
  • Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks;

Goals and Objectives:

  • Identifying new clients to RS&H and pursuing potential opportunities in coordination with West Region priorities;
  • Support in development of an office specific business plan that is consistent with the priorities of RS&H and the West Region that meets or exceeds the identified goals for sales, gross revenue, net service revenue and EBBIT;
  • Contribute to an interactive working environment in Oregon that highlights the RS&H’s strength and creates a strong work-life balance; and
  • Work cooperatively with other T-I offices to form a cohesive partnership supporting the priorities of RS&H’s West Region.
