Senior Structural Engineer

An exciting position has become available for a full time Senior Structural Engineer to join a friendly team based in Bethesda, MD 20814. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday and earn $90,000 - $120,000 a year.  

The nature of this position is working in a production environment of a small consulting firm embedded within a mid-sized architectural firm. The successful candidate will need to be willing to work fast and accurately, often unattended with certain managerial responsibilities.

Role Requirements

Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to: (Provide NMT 5 Bullets)

  • Coordinate, lead, and support multiple projects both onsite and in-house utilizing various company software systems, review and maintain job documentation, ensuring completeness of information from receipt of order to invoice.
  • Perform testing of low and medium voltage cables, instrument and power transformers, switchgear, breakers, electro-mechanical and solid-state relays, and other electrical apparatus.
  • Contain material costs by eliminating wasteful practices and implementing appropriate control measures.

This position provides operational, research and development, and training support along with subject matter expert advice and decision support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) as part of its 24/7/365 Technical Reachback Support program. Technical Reachback’s primary function is responding to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and (high yield) Explosive (CBRNE) requests for information (RFIs) from the Combatant Commands (COCOMs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff (JS), Intelligence Community (IC), command elements, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), other U.S. Government agencies, and first responders.

The ideal candidate will apply subject matter expertise and problem solving skills to develop, integrate, test, verify, validate, and apply CBRNE software/scenarios based on experiments and predicted phenomena using theoretical and computational methods. Duties require working closely with other engineering groups to define the modeling objectives, obtaining the necessary model inputs and outputs, and verifying/validating results. The position also requires presenting modeling results and decision support aid to internal and external customers in written reports and oral presentations. Reviewing the technical work of other engineers performing modeling projects is required.

The candidate would also be responsible for the following:

Senior Structural Engineer

An exciting position has become available for a full time Senior Structural Engineer to join a friendly team based in Bethesda, MD 20814. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday and earn $90,000 - $120,000 a year.  

The nature of this position is working in a production environment of a small consulting firm embedded within a mid-sized architectural firm. The successful candidate will need to be willing to work fast and accurately, often unattended with certain managerial responsibilities.

Role Requirements

•The successful engineering candidate MUST have a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Engineering University with an emphasis on building structures, and should have 4-6 years of structural building design experience.
•Be familiar in structural design with a heavy emphasis on structural steel, concrete framed systems, masonry and wood.
•Must have a working knowledge of the IBC codes, ASCE-7, ACI and AISC Steel Construction manuals along with thorough exposure to Autocad v2020 (or newer), Enercalc, and RISA. Some knowledge in Revit is also helpful.
•They MUST have either a Structural Engineering (S.E.) or Professional Engineering (P.E.) license and be willing to assist junior engineers in the design and construction administration process.
